JW Marriott Bengaluru has appointed Deepak Pokhriyal as its new Director of Food & Beverage, effective immediately. Pokhriyal brings nearly two decades of luxury hospitality experience, having held senior roles across India and the Middle East with brands including Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Etihad Airways, Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and Taj Hotels.
In his new role, Pokhriyal will oversee all food and beverage operations at the property, which includes multiple restaurants, bars, and extensive banquet facilities. The appointment comes as the hotel seeks to strengthen its culinary positioning in Bengaluru’s competitive luxury dining market.
Strategic Focus on Culinary Excellence
Gaurav Sinha, Hotel Manager at JW Marriott Bengaluru, commented: “Food and beverage remain central to the guest experience we offer, and Deepak’s global exposure, strong operational acumen, and passion for service excellence make him a valuable addition to our team.”
Pokhriyal’s background includes strategic planning and team leadership in luxury F&B operations. His experience spans both hotel and airline catering, giving him a broad perspective on service delivery across different travel segments.
“I am thrilled to join JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru, a property that has set a benchmark for luxury hospitality and dining in the city,” said Pokhriyal. “I look forward to collaborating with the team to further strengthen the hotel’s culinary identity and curate dining experiences that are distinctive, thoughtful, and memorable for every guest.”
The hotel is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio, which recently crossed the 10,000-property mark globally with the opening of JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in India. JW Marriott has also been active in brand marketing, appointing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as global brand ambassador to deepen its “Stay in the Moment” platform.
Pokhriyal’s appointment signals continued investment in F&B talent at Marriott properties in India. The company has also been active in sustainability, with Marriott India planting 125,000 trees under its “Four Trees Per Room” initiative.
Industry observers note that Bengaluru remains a key market for luxury hotels, with strong demand from both business and leisure travelers. JW Marriott Bengaluru competes with properties from The Oberoi, ITC, and Taj Hotels in the city’s upscale dining scene.
Pokhriyal’s experience with Etihad Airways also gives him insight into airline catering, a segment that is increasingly intersecting with hotel F&B as carriers seek to enhance premium cabin dining. This cross-sector expertise may prove valuable as the hotel explores partnerships or catering opportunities.
The hotel’s banquet and events spaces are also expected to benefit from Pokhriyal’s leadership, as MICE business in Bengaluru continues to recover and grow. The city is a major hub for technology conferences and corporate meetings, driving demand for high-quality F&B services.
With this appointment, JW Marriott Bengaluru aims to elevate its dining offerings and maintain its reputation as a leader in luxury hospitality in South India.
