Kurhotel Skodsborg, the historic spa hotel on Denmark's Øresund coastline, has announced The Nordisk Race Retreat, a three-day fitness and wellness event scheduled for 12–14 September 2026. The retreat targets fitness enthusiasts and travel professionals seeking a structured blend of competitive training and Nordic recovery practices.

Programme Structure and Coaching

The retreat is co-hosted by UK-based fitness coach Uche Obi and Danish weightlifting coach Sandra Jensen. Participants will undergo bespoke training sessions before competing in a Race Simulation Event, which features six workout stations interspersed with 1.2 km run blocks. The format mirrors Hyrox-style competitions, offering a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.

Beyond the race, attendees can engage in activities rooted in Nordic wellness traditions. These include SaunaGus, a signature aromatherapy sauna experience, and yin yoga sessions held on the beach. Guests also have full access to Kurhotel Skodsborg’s award-winning spa, which offers 16 distinct cooling and warming experiences.

Accommodation and Pricing

The retreat package includes two nights in a standard double room, all meals, and access to all fitness classes. Pricing starts from $800 (£800) per person, excluding flights and transfers. The hotel is located near the UNESCO-listed Dyrehaven nature reserve, providing a scenic backdrop for outdoor activities.

Kurhotel Skodsborg was founded by Dr Carl Ottosen and has long promoted a healthy lifestyle through light, air, water, nutrition, exercise, and rest. The Nordisk Race Retreat continues this tradition, offering a structured programme for guests to immerse themselves in these principles.

For travel professionals, this retreat represents a niche product combining fitness tourism with luxury wellness. Similar offerings have gained traction in the Nordic region, as seen with Octola III's invitation-only Arctic retreat opening in Finnish Lapland later this year. The retreat also aligns with broader industry trends toward experiential travel and regenerative hospitality, a topic explored at the Regenerative Travel Asia Symposium 2026.

Kurhotel Skodsborg is positioned to attract international guests, particularly from the UK and Scandinavia, given the involvement of coaches from both markets. The hotel's proximity to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) makes it accessible for short-haul travellers, while the Øresund region's appeal as a wellness destination continues to grow.

Travel agents and tour operators may consider packaging the retreat with flights and transfers, or offering it as a standalone product for fitness-focused clients. The event's September timing also allows for combination with other Nordic autumn activities, such as foraging or cultural tours in Copenhagen.
