MGM Hospitality Group (Asia Pacific) has officially opened MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay, a new luxury waterfront property in Shekou, Nanshan district. The hotel, which welcomed its first guests on 10 September, is positioned at the maritime gateway of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, offering seamless connectivity to major cities within a 60-minute radius. This strategic location is designed to attract both business and leisure travellers seeking access to global resources and the region's picturesque bay scenery.

Design and Accommodations

The hotel was designed by GP Architects and LTW Designworks, with an interior concept that embodies a "waterfront garden" theme inspired by classic MGM cinema. All 298 rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the bay, while the interiors blend marine motifs with urban garden tranquillity. This design approach aims to cater to the needs of corporate clients and vacationers alike, offering a serene retreat within a bustling commercial hub.

Each guest room is equipped with modern amenities and thoughtful touches that reflect MGM's hospitality standards. The property's location in Shekou, a rapidly developing area of Shenzhen, places it within easy reach of the city's business districts and leisure attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the Greater Bay Area.

Dining and Event Spaces

MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay offers five distinctive dining venues, including Yu Hoi Heen Chinese Restaurant and The PURPLE Rooftop Sky Bar. These outlets combine global flavours with local culinary traditions, providing guests with a diverse gastronomic experience. The hotel also boasts over 3,000 square metres of flexible event space, including a 420-square-metre foyer with harbour views and an 800-square-metre terrace suitable for outdoor events. This makes the property a strong contender for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) business in the region.

The opening gala featured a culinary collaboration between chefs from MGM COTAI's Michelin-starred restaurants and the culinary team at MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay, showcasing cross-city culinary excellence. This event highlighted MGM's commitment to delivering high-quality dining experiences across its portfolio.

Executive Commentary and Expansion Plans

Pansy Ho, Chairperson of MGM China Holdings Limited, commented, "This hotel is a stage where MGM's century-old hospitality meets the dynamic spirit of Prince Bay." Her remarks underscore the strategic importance of this property in MGM's regional growth strategy.

MGM Hospitality Group (Asia Pacific) continues to expand its presence with more projects planned in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and other destinations. This expansion reinforces the group's commitment to entertainment-focused hospitality and its ambition to become a leading player in the Asia-Pacific luxury hotel market. The opening of MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay is a significant milestone in that journey, and it is expected to set new benchmarks for waterfront luxury in the region.

For travel professionals, this property represents a new option for clients seeking a luxury stay in Shenzhen, with its combination of prime location, extensive facilities, and MGM's brand reputation. The hotel's event spaces are particularly suited for corporate gatherings, while its dining venues offer unique experiences for leisure travellers. As the Greater Bay Area continues to develop as a major economic and tourism hub, MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay is well-positioned to capitalise on this growth.

Travel advisors and tour operators can also note the hotel's proximity to key transport links, including Shenzhen Bay Port and the Shekou Cruise Home Port, which facilitate easy access for international visitors. This connectivity, combined with the property's luxury offerings, makes it a compelling choice for high-end itineraries in southern China.
