Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre and the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) have appointed Malabika Das as their new Director of Sales. Das brings more than 16 years of hospitality sales expertise to the role, with a mandate to accelerate growth across MICE, weddings, corporate accounts, leisure, and social segments.
A Career Built on Revenue Growth and Strategic Sales
Das most recently served as Director of Celebrations at Hyatt Regency Dehradun Resort & Spa, where she drove revenue generation and strategic planning. Her prior experience includes senior sales positions at Novotel Kolkata Hotel & Residences, ErevMax Pvt. Ltd., The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, and JW Marriott Kolkata. At each property, she contributed to expanding corporate and catering business, building a track record in both hotel and convention centre sales.
Rubin Cherian, General Manager of Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre and HICC, commented: “Her extensive experience across hospitality sales, celebrations, corporate accounts, weddings, and revenue management makes her a valuable addition to our leadership team.”
Das herself said: “I am excited to join Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre & HICC, a property that holds a strong position in India’s hospitality and convention landscape. I look forward to working closely with the team to build meaningful client relationships and contribute to the continued success of the hotel and convention centre.”
The appointment underscores the property’s commitment to strengthening its commercial leadership as competition intensifies in India’s MICE and convention market. Hyderabad has become a key hub for large-scale events, and the Novotel-HICC complex is one of the largest integrated convention venues in the country.
Industry observers note that Das’s blend of experience across luxury hotels and convention centres positions her well to capture demand from both domestic and international event organisers. Her focus on corporate accounts and weddings aligns with broader trends in Indian hospitality, where these segments are rebounding strongly post-pandemic.
For travel professionals, the appointment signals that Novotel Hyderabad is investing in senior sales talent to maintain its edge in the competitive MICE landscape. The property’s ability to offer both hotel accommodation and convention facilities under one roof gives it a distinct advantage when pitching to event planners and corporate travel buyers.
Das’s arrival also follows other recent leadership moves in the region, including Novotel Vijayawada Varun GM Manish Pathak winning the Hotelier India Young GM Award 2026, reflecting Accor’s broader push to develop talent across its Indian portfolio.
With MICE demand expected to grow further as international travel recovers, Das’s appointment comes at a strategic time. The property is likely to leverage her network and expertise to win larger corporate and association events, as well as high-value social celebrations.
