Bangkok's sky-high dining scene is getting a supernatural twist this Halloween. Ojo, the Mexican restaurant perched on the 76th floor of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, will transform into a Día de los Muertos celebration on October 31, 2026, from 8 pm to 2 am. The event, titled "Day of The Dead: The Veil Between Worlds," invites guests to embrace the Mexican tradition of honoring departed loved ones with a night of music, cocktails, and ancestral flavors.

A Culinary Tribute to Mexican Heritage

Chef Francisco "Paco" Ruano, the acclaimed culinary mind behind Ojo, will oversee a menu inspired by ancestral Mexican recipes. The evening features unlimited canapés and live interactive food stations, allowing guests to sample a range of dishes that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Mexico. From traditional moles to contemporary interpretations, the spread is designed to be both festive and deeply rooted in cultural authenticity.

"Día de los Muertos is a time of joy and remembrance," said Chef Ruano. "We want our guests to experience the warmth and vibrancy of Mexican culture, even from 76 floors above Bangkok."

Honky Tonks Tavern Takes Over the Bar

Behind the bar, Hong Kong's beloved neighborhood hotspot Honky Tonks Tavern will take over for one night only. Ranked #15 on the Hong Kong Bartenders Edit 2025, the tavern is known for its inventive cocktails and relaxed, unpretentious vibe. Guests can enjoy exclusive cocktails, including their signature hard slushies, with four hours of free-flow drinks from 8 pm to midnight. After midnight, à la carte drinks will be available until 1 am.

The musical lineup features DJ Mizuyo from 8 pm to 11 pm, followed by DJ Henry Knowles for the witching-hour shift until 2 am. The beats are designed to keep the energy high and, perhaps, to summon a few friendly spirits.

Event Details and Pricing

Tickets are priced at THB 2,000 per person and include unlimited canapés, live food stations, and free-flow beverages during the first four hours. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest Día de los Muertos attire—elegant, extravagant, undead, or somewhere in between. The event is open to guests aged 20 and above.

This event adds to a growing trend of hotels and venues offering themed Halloween experiences across the region. Earlier this month, Pattaya Marriott Resort announced its own Halloween and Day of the Dead dining events, while Four Seasons Bengaluru staged a Halloween weekend with themed dining. These offerings reflect a broader industry push to create memorable, culturally-inspired experiences that attract both local and international travelers.

For travel professionals, this event underscores the importance of experiential dining in the luxury hospitality sector. As Bangkok continues to position itself as a top destination for culinary tourism, venues like Ojo are setting a high bar for immersive guest experiences. The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, known for its striking design and panoramic views, is leveraging its unique location to offer something beyond the ordinary.

With the city's vibrant nightlife and growing reputation as a gastronomic hub, events like this are likely to draw significant interest from both locals and tourists. For agents and tour operators, such happenings present opportunities to package exclusive experiences for clients seeking something truly memorable.
