PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, has expanded its family-focused offerings with the launch of Gnomey Hollows, a nature-inspired playroom designed for children up to 12 years old. The new facility, which opened on 13 July, is located on Level 4 and operates daily from 9am to 9pm.
The playroom reflects the hotel's signature biophilic design, incorporating elements such as an interactive plush vegetable harvesting corner, a mushroom house and wagon, a cocoon swing, and a soft green carpet. A dedicated reading nook with children's books and a television screening children's programmes provides quieter moments for young visitors.
Phil Smith, General Manager of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, said: “Gnomey Hollows is our manifestation of creating a truly memorable experience for every guest, young or old.” The playroom complements the hotel's two gnome-themed family rooms, The Gnomes Treehouse and The Gnomes Burrow, which are equipped with gnome toys, board games, and a video game console.
Families booking the Gnomes Room package can enjoy a curated programme of activities, including a treasure hunt, a terrarium milk pudding workshop, and a story time session. Gnomey Hollows is accessible to all hotel guests and diners, with children required to be supervised by a parent or guardian.
Biophilic Design and Sustainability
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay is known for its commitment to sustainability, and Gnomey Hollows continues this ethos. The playroom's design integrates natural materials and greenery, aligning with the hotel's broader eco-friendly initiatives. This approach appeals to environmentally conscious travellers seeking unique, nature-connected experiences.
The hotel's biophilic design has been a key differentiator in Singapore's competitive hospitality market. By extending this concept to family amenities, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay aims to attract a wider demographic, including multi-generational travellers and families with young children.
For travel professionals, this development underscores a growing trend in the hospitality industry: the integration of nature-inspired, interactive spaces within urban hotels. Similar concepts have been seen at properties like The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary, which reopened as an immersive luxury retreat in the Western Ghats, and Six Senses AMAALA on Saudi Arabia's northwest coast, both of which emphasise biophilic design and sustainability.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay's move also reflects a broader industry shift towards creating memorable, family-friendly experiences that go beyond standard amenities. As competition intensifies, hotels are increasingly investing in unique, themed spaces that encourage longer stays and repeat visits.
The playroom is expected to be a key selling point for travel agents and tour operators targeting family travel to Singapore. With its central location and access to Marina Bay attractions, the hotel is well-positioned to capture demand from both leisure and business travellers.
