Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has marked its entry into the Thai market with the launch of two lounges at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The new facilities, Plaza Premium Lounge and Plaza Premium First, are located in Concourse G and are open to all international departing and transit passengers, irrespective of airline or travel class.

The larger of the two, Plaza Premium Lounge, spans 578 square metres and seats up to 98 guests. It emphasizes authentic Thai hospitality through regional dishes and live cooking stations, catering to solo travellers, families, and business passengers alike. The design reflects PPG's mission of "Together, We Make Travel Better," aiming to provide a comfortable and culturally immersive pre-flight experience.

Plaza Premium First, situated on the third floor near Gate G1, offers a more exclusive environment. Covering 212 square metres and accommodating up to 51 guests, it features personalised concierge services, bespoke culinary offerings, and intimate spaces for rest and productivity. This premium tier is designed for travellers seeking a higher level of service and privacy.

"By introducing our dual-lounge concept at BKK, we empower travellers to choose the experience that best suits their journey whilst enjoying authentic Thai hospitality," said Song Hoi See, Founder and CEO of Plaza Premium Group. The move underscores PPG's strategy of expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia, a region with growing air travel demand.

Strategic expansion in Southeast Asia

The Suvarnabhumi opening is a significant milestone for PPG, which operates a global network of airport lounges and travel services. The company has been actively growing its presence in the region, including recent appointments such as Diana Borchard to lead its Chile expansion, though the focus remains on key Asian hubs.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is one of Asia's busiest airports, serving as a major gateway for both leisure and business travel. The new lounges are expected to appeal to the growing number of premium travellers in the region. According to recent data, premium travel bookings in Singapore surged 137% in the first half, indicating a broader trend of increasing demand for upscale travel experiences.

The lounges also align with Thailand's efforts to boost its tourism and MICE sectors. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has been proactive in attracting high-value events, such as Ultra Thailand 2027, and the new airport amenities could enhance the overall traveller experience.

PPG's dual-lounge model is part of a wider industry trend where airport hospitality providers are diversifying their offerings to cater to different passenger segments. By providing both a standard lounge and a premium first-class-style option, PPG aims to capture a broader share of the market.

The lounges are now operational, and PPG plans to continue its expansion across the region. With the reopening of borders and the resurgence of international travel, the timing of this launch is strategic, positioning PPG to capitalise on the rebound in air traffic.

For travel professionals, the new lounges at BKK represent an additional option for clients seeking comfort and efficiency during layovers. The inclusion of Thai culinary elements and personalised services could be a differentiator in a competitive market.

As the travel industry continues to recover, investments in airport infrastructure and passenger experience are likely to remain a priority. PPG's entry into Thailand signals confidence in the region's long-term growth prospects.
