Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has once again been recognized as the World's Best Airport Lounge Group at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking its tenth consecutive win. The accolade underscores the group's sustained leadership in airport hospitality, a sector that has become increasingly competitive as airlines and third-party operators vie for premium travellers' attention.

Three PPG lounges also earned top-10 placements in the independent airport lounge category: the flagship at Rome Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, the lounge at London Heathrow Airport, and the facility at Dubai International Airport. These properties exemplify the group's strategy of blending local culture with consistent service standards across its global network.

A decade of consistency and growth

Since founding the independent airport lounge concept 28 years ago, PPG has expanded to operate across more than 600 airports in 150 countries, serving over 30 million passengers annually. The company's founder and CEO, Song Hoi See, credited the award to the trust of travellers and the dedication of staff worldwide. "This is far more than a trophy; it reflects the trust our travellers place in us and the dedication our teams bring to their work every single day," he said.

Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted praised PPG's achievement, noting that the award reflects strong customer recognition of its high-quality standards. The Rome lounge, which has been named the best independent airport lounge from 2023 to 2025, offers an immersive Italian experience, while the London lounge delivers classic British hospitality and the Dubai lounge combines Emirati culture with global sophistication.

The win comes at a time when airport lounges are evolving beyond simple waiting areas into destinations in their own right. Airlines and independent operators are investing heavily in premium amenities, from spa services to à la carte dining, to capture higher-margin travellers. PPG's continued dominance in this space highlights its ability to scale quality across diverse markets.

For travel professionals, the award reinforces the importance of lounge partnerships in shaping passenger satisfaction and loyalty. As carriers like Air France prepare to open its largest lounge at JFK's New Terminal One, the competitive landscape for premium ground experiences is intensifying.

PPG's model, which operates independently of any single airline, offers airports and carriers flexibility in managing passenger flow and enhancing the pre-flight experience. This approach has proven particularly valuable in hubs where space is at a premium and traveller expectations are high.

The group's tenth consecutive win also signals resilience in a post-pandemic travel environment, where passenger volumes have rebounded but operational challenges persist. By maintaining consistent standards across its network, PPG has positioned itself as a reliable partner for airports seeking to differentiate their offerings.

Looking ahead, PPG is likely to continue expanding its footprint, particularly in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, where air travel growth remains robust. The company's ability to adapt its lounge concepts to local tastes while upholding global benchmarks will be key to sustaining its award-winning reputation.
