Qatar Airways has confirmed its participation in the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, where it will present two distinct aircraft: a Boeing 777-300ER featuring a special livery celebrating the FIFA World Cup 2026, and a Gulfstream G700 business jet. The appearance underscores the Doha-based carrier's strategy to reinforce its brand across both commercial and private aviation segments at one of the industry's premier trade events.

Starlink-Connected 777-300ER and FIFA Livery

The Boeing 777-300ER on display will be outfitted with Starlink satellite connectivity, a technology Qatar Airways has been rolling out across its long-haul fleet to provide passengers with high-speed, low-latency internet access. The aircraft's exterior will carry a livery tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This marks a continuation of the airline's long-standing sponsorship relationship with FIFA, following its role as an official partner for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

Attendees at Farnborough will be able to tour the aircraft's cabin, experiencing the interior design and seat configuration that helped Qatar Airways earn the title of World's Best Airline in the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline has invested heavily in passenger experience, including its Qsuite business-class product, which has been widely adopted across its fleet.

Gulfstream G700: Private Aviation Push

Alongside the commercial jet, Qatar Airways will display a Gulfstream G700, the flagship model of its Qatar Executive charter division. The G700 is known for its ultra-long-range capability—capable of flying nonstop from Doha to Los Angeles—and its spacious, customizable cabin. The presence of the G700 at Farnborough signals Qatar Airways' ambition to grow its share of the private jet market, competing with operators such as VistaJet and NetJets.

Qatar Executive has been expanding its fleet and charter network, targeting high-net-worth travelers and corporate clients. The G700 display will allow potential buyers and charter customers to inspect the aircraft's interior finishes, galley, and entertainment systems firsthand.

Strategic Context for Farnborough 2026

Farnborough International Airshow, held biennially in Hampshire, UK, is a key event for aerospace and aviation deal-making. Qatar Airways' participation comes as the airline continues to rebuild its network post-pandemic, recently restoring services to Canberra and expanding its UK summer schedule. The carrier's summer 2026 network is set to reach 160 destinations, including the resumption of 26 routes.

The airshow provides a platform for Qatar Airways to engage with aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, and lessors. The airline is a major customer for both Boeing and Airbus, with orders for the Boeing 777X and Airbus A350-1000. Demonstrating its latest cabin technologies and connectivity solutions at Farnborough could influence future procurement decisions and partnerships.

Industry Implications

For travel professionals, Qatar Airways' showcase highlights two trends: the growing importance of in-flight connectivity as a competitive differentiator, and the convergence of commercial and private aviation under single brand umbrellas. Airlines are increasingly using Starlink and other LEO satellite systems to offer streaming-quality internet, a feature that is becoming table stakes for premium passengers. Meanwhile, carriers like Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Lufthansa are leveraging their private jet divisions to capture high-yield traffic that might otherwise bypass commercial first class.

The FIFA livery also serves as a marketing tool, reminding attendees of the airline's global sports partnerships. With the 2026 World Cup expected to draw massive travel demand across North America, Qatar Airways is positioning itself to capture connecting traffic through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.

Farnborough 2026 runs from July 20-26. Qatar Airways has not yet announced whether it will take orders or announce new routes during the show, but its presence signals continued investment in both hardware and brand visibility.
