Radisson Hotel Group has expanded its UK footprint with the opening of the Radisson Blu Medlock Hotel in Manchester, a 401-room upper-upscale property that debuted on 7 September 2026. Located at Medlock Square on the Etihad Campus, the hotel is the first joint venture between Manchester City Football Club and the hospitality group, creating a new hub for visitors to the city's sporting and entertainment districts.
The property is designed to meet rising demand for premium accommodation near key Manchester attractions, including the Etihad Stadium and the Co-op Live arena. Direct Metrolink tram connections link the hotel to the city centre, positioning it as a convenient base for leisure travellers, corporate clients, and event attendees.
Design and amenities
Named after the River Medlock, the hotel blends Manchester's industrial heritage with contemporary style. Guest rooms and suites include the distinctive Pitch View Rooms, which overlook the football pitch, and a two-storey penthouse offering expansive views. Dining options span Three Rivers Brasserie & Bar, Blend Café Bar, and Little Beast Restaurant, with the Brickworks Market Hall and Zadie's Sky Bar slated to open soon.
The hotel's strategic location provides easy access to Manchester's cultural and entertainment offerings, reinforcing the city's status as a leading UK destination for sports, music, and business events.
“The opening of Radisson Blu Medlock Hotel represents a defining moment for both Manchester and the team behind it,” said Joep Peeters, Chief Operating Officer Franchise EMEA at Radisson Hotel Group.
General Manager Richard Pearson added: “We’ve created something that’s uniquely Manchester—a hotel at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting destinations.”
The Radisson Blu Medlock Hotel joins a wave of recent hospitality openings across the UK and beyond, including RIU's first Thailand resort and Hilton's debut Tapestry Collection property in Vietnam. These developments underscore the continued appetite for branded upscale hotels in key urban and leisure markets.
For travel professionals, the Manchester property offers a new option for clients attending football matches, concerts, or conferences. Its integration with the Etihad Campus and proximity to the Co-op Live arena—one of Europe's largest indoor venues—makes it a compelling choice for event-driven itineraries.
The hotel also strengthens Radisson Blu's presence in the UK, complementing existing properties in London, Edinburgh, and other major cities. With Manchester's tourism and business travel sectors on the rise, the Medlock Hotel is positioned to capture both domestic and international demand.
As the city continues to grow as a destination for sports, music, and commerce, the Radisson Blu Medlock Hotel delivers a comprehensive experience that combines hospitality, culture, and entertainment under one roof.
