Radisson Hotel Group is pressing ahead with an aggressive global expansion strategy, reporting robust development momentum across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific during the first half of 2026. The group attributes its growth to sustained owner confidence and rising demand for branded hospitality in key source and destination markets.

European Milestones and Brand Extensions

In Europe, Radisson has reached several milestones, including the signing of Radisson Collection Hotel, Frankfurt and Radisson RED Vienna Danube Riverside. New properties have opened in Austria, Germany, and Poland, while resort expansions in Tenerife and Phuket underscore the group's focus on leisure destinations. The Radisson Individuals brand has also expanded in Greece and Spain, and Radisson RED made its debut in New Zealand, the Philippines, and Türkiye.

On the sustainability front, Radisson's Verified Net Zero programme will soon encompass ten additional hotels across Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and South Africa, reinforcing the group's commitment to carbon-neutral operations.

Middle East and Africa: 100-Property Milestone

The Middle East and Africa region saw significant openings, including Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Barsha Heights and Radisson Collection Residences, Riyadh. Africa now boasts over 100 hotels in operation and development, a landmark for the group. Executive Vice President Elie Younes commented, “We create value for our guests and owners through our brands and people.”

The expansion aligns with broader tourism growth in the region, as destinations like Dubai and Riyadh continue to attract both business and leisure travellers. For context, Thailand is also targeting Middle East growth with new routes and wellness initiatives.

Asia Pacific: China Dominates, India Targets 500 Hotels

In Asia Pacific, Radisson maintains a strong focus on China, with over 260 hotels in operation and a robust development pipeline. New market entries include LIME Resort Bohol in Southeast Asia and Radisson RED Auckland in Australasia.

India remains a cornerstone of Radisson's global strategy. The group signed and opened 22 hotels in India during H1 2026, bringing its total to 142 properties across 86 cities. Younes noted, “India is one of the most promising hotel development markets in the world today.” The group aims to expand to 500 hotels in India by 2030, a target that underscores the country's growing importance in the global hospitality landscape. This ambition mirrors broader industry trends, as seen with Marriott's upcoming W Hotel in Delhi NCR Aerocity.

Radisson's expansion in Asia Pacific also benefits from rising intra-regional travel and the recovery of Chinese outbound tourism. The group's diversified brand portfolio—from economy to luxury—positions it to capture demand across segments.

Outlook: Owner Confidence and Brand Value

Radisson's H1 2026 performance reflects a broader trend of hotel groups leveraging brand strength and operational expertise to win owner confidence. With new signings spanning multiple continents and a clear focus on high-growth markets like India and China, the group is well-positioned to sustain its expansion trajectory. As Younes emphasised, the combination of strong brands and dedicated people remains the core driver of value for both guests and owners.

For travel professionals monitoring hotel development pipelines, Radisson's progress offers a clear signal: branded hospitality continues to gain traction in both mature and emerging markets, with sustainability and local relevance becoming key differentiators.
