Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has named Ravi Rai as its new General Manager, effective immediately. Rai, a hospitality veteran with more than 25 years in the industry, will oversee all hotel operations with a mandate to elevate service standards and embed sustainability into daily practices.
Rai’s career spans leadership roles across several major hotel groups. He previously served at The Orchid Hotel Mumbai, a property known for its eco-conscious operations, and held positions within the Accor Group, including management of Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach and The Bheemili Resort. His resume also includes stints with Hilton, Taj Hotels (IHCL), and Carlson Rezidor, giving him a broad perspective on hotel management and guest engagement across different market segments.
Sustainability as a Core Pillar
In his new role, Rai will focus on integrating environmental stewardship into the hotel’s culture. Austin Roach, Managing Director of Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, expressed confidence in Rai’s ability to drive this agenda. “His experience with properties recognised for environmental stewardship is directly relevant to our goals,” Roach said. “We are committed to responsible hospitality, and Ravi’s track record in operational excellence will be instrumental.”
Rai himself emphasized the importance of making sustainability a team-wide effort. “My focus will be on building a culture where sustainability is a daily practice owned by every team member,” he stated. “We will set clear goals and raise the bar on responsible hospitality.” This approach aligns with broader industry trends, as seen in initiatives like TICA President Prachoom Tantiprasertsuk on Leading Thai Hospitality Transformation, where sustainability is increasingly a strategic priority.
Rai’s appointment comes at a time when Bengaluru’s hospitality market is growing, driven by both business travel and MICE demand. The Radisson Blu property, located on Outer Ring Road, caters to corporate clients and leisure guests alike. Rai’s experience with Accor and Hilton in similar urban and resort settings positions him well to navigate this competitive landscape.
Beyond sustainability, Rai will also prioritize talent development. The hotel industry in India faces ongoing challenges in attracting and retaining skilled staff, and Rai’s background includes mentoring teams at properties like Novotel Visakhapatnam and The Orchid. His approach to building a strong team culture echoes strategies discussed in Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Les Roches Partner to Develop Luxury Hospitality Talent in UAE, where partnerships and training are key to upskilling the workforce.
Rai’s leadership marks a new chapter for Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road. With a clear focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and guest experience, the hotel aims to strengthen its position in the city’s competitive hospitality sector. As Rai noted, “We will set clear goals and raise the bar on responsible hospitality,” signaling a commitment to both business growth and environmental responsibility.
