The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, is turning Halloween into a week-long resort experience, running from 26 October to 1 November 2026. Under the theme “Rise of the Phoenix,” the property is blending family-focused activities with high-end gastronomy, aiming to attract both leisure travellers and luxury-seeking families during the shoulder season.

Family science labs with TheDadLab

Central to the family programme is Sergei Urban, the creator of TheDadLab, who will lead interactive science experiments for children aged 4 to 12. From 28 to 31 October, young guests can rotate through themed labs such as the Candy Lab and the Haunted Lab, designed to make learning playful and engaging. The activities are intended to give parents a chance to relax while their children are entertained in a supervised, educational setting.

Michelin-starred culinary collaborations

Culinary programming is a major draw. On 28 October, Chef Jean-Philippe Blondet, from the three-Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in London, will host “The Art of Savoir-Faire” at La Locanda, the resort’s Italian restaurant. The refined set menu will showcase his signature techniques. The following evening, Chef Blondet will team up with Chef David at Summer Pavilion for “A Dialogue of Flavours,” a crossover dinner blending French and Cantonese cuisines. This collaboration underscores the resort’s push to offer exclusive dining experiences that go beyond standard resort fare.

Phoenix Carnival and wellness activities

The week culminates on 31 October with the Phoenix Carnival at Recreation Beach, featuring live entertainment and festive food and drink. Throughout the stay, guests can also join coral planting sessions, yoga classes, and creative workshops, aligning with the resort’s broader sustainability and wellness initiatives. The finale is set against the Maldivian night sky, creating a memorable end to the celebration.

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio, and this event is a strategic move to drive occupancy during a period that is typically quieter in the Maldives. The property has been investing in experiential programming to differentiate itself in a competitive luxury market, where rivals like Four Seasons Maldives and Patina Maldives are also expanding their family and cultural offerings.

For travel advisors, the week-long format offers a clear selling point: a single destination that combines Halloween festivities with high-end dining and family-friendly activities, eliminating the need for multiple bookings. The inclusion of a Michelin-starred chef is likely to appeal to food-focused travellers, while the science labs cater to younger guests.

The Maldives has seen a surge in luxury resort openings and renovations, with brands like Atmosphere Core adding new properties and existing players enhancing their programming. The Ritz-Carlton’s Halloween event is part of this trend, using themed weeks to create reasons to visit beyond the natural beauty of the islands.

As the travel industry continues to recover, resorts are increasingly relying on unique events to fill rooms. The Ritz-Carlton Maldives’ “Rise of the Phoenix” is a prime example of how luxury properties are leveraging culinary talent and family entertainment to stand out. For agents, this is a timely opportunity to pitch a distinctive holiday package that combines celebration, relaxation, and world-class dining.
