Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's new national carrier, has inaugurated daily nonstop service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport (RUH), marking the airline's third official destination. The route, operated on brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, underscores the carrier's strategy to link the Kingdom with major global and regional hubs.
Flight RX243 departs Riyadh at 14:05, arriving in Dubai at 17:00 local time. The return leg, RX244, leaves Dubai at 18:30 and lands in Riyadh at 19:20. The daily schedule is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers on one of the Middle East's most vital air corridors.
Strategic Route Strengthens Saudi-UAE Economic Ties
The Dubai–Riyadh sector ranked as the seventh busiest international route globally in 2025, according to OAG data. Riyadh Air's entry adds capacity to a corridor already served by carriers such as Emirates, flydubai, Saudia, and Flynas. The new service reinforces what the airline describes as one of the region's strongest bilateral commercial relationships, supporting trade, tourism, and investment flows between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Riyadh, as the Kingdom's capital and commercial center, offers travelers access to a rapidly expanding business ecosystem, modern attractions, and entertainment venues. The route also positions Riyadh as a connecting hub for onward journeys to destinations including London, Manchester, and future Asian markets.
Four-Class Cabin Configuration and Premium Amenities
Riyadh Air's 787-9 Dreamliners feature a four-class layout: Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. Business Elite and Business cabins offer a 1-2-1 configuration with fully flat beds, AC power, USB-C and USB-A charging, and immersive audio integrated into headrests. Premium Economy provides a 2-3-2 layout with privacy headrest wings, extra storage, expandable surfaces, and four USB-C ports. Economy seats are arranged 3-3-3 with six-way adjustable headrests and two USB-C charging points.
The airline has partnered with Panasonic Avionics for its Astrova in-flight entertainment system, offering over 500 movies and 600 TV series from providers including Shahid, Disney+, HBO Max, and Warner Bros. Passengers can also access 1,000 audio albums and playlists, with Bluetooth connectivity and cinema-quality visuals available at every seat.
Onboard amenities include Saudi-made Kayanee products, bespoke Disney amenity kits for children, fine dining, and bedding by John Horsfall. Business Elite and Business travelers receive exclusive Kayanee loungewear, while Premium Economy guests get a Kayanee top.
Sfeer Loyalty Program and Digital Ecosystem
Riyadh Air's loyalty program, Sfeer—blending the Arabic word for 'ambassador' with the English 'sphere'—offers a best-offer guarantee, no points expiry, the ability to share level points with friends and family, and complimentary onboard Wi-Fi. The program incorporates gamified challenges and leaderboards, aiming to build a comprehensive digital lifestyle ecosystem. Early members, dubbed 'The Founders,' receive priority booking access on new routes.
Tickets are available via the Riyadh Air app, website, or through travel agents and preferred platforms. The airline continues to take delivery of additional 787-9s, with a target of connecting the Kingdom to 100 destinations by 2030.
For travel professionals, this launch adds a premium option on a high-demand route and signals Riyadh Air's ambition to become a significant player in Middle East aviation. The carrier's focus on modern cabins, advanced IFE, and a loyalty program designed for a new generation of travelers positions it to compete directly with established Gulf carriers.
