RMS, the cloud-based hospitality management platform used by over 6,000 properties across 70 countries, has appointed Rich Steers as its new Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO). The move signals a deepening commitment to product innovation and global scalability as the company looks to strengthen its position in the hospitality technology sector.
Steers brings more than 25 years of experience building and scaling SaaS platforms. Most recently, he served as CPTO at ROLLER, where he led the development of AI-powered solutions and enterprise software that expanded the business to thousands of venues worldwide. His background spans hospitality, fintech, and enterprise software, with leadership roles overseeing e-commerce, customer data platforms, and payments.
From System of Record to Intelligent Action
At RMS, Steers will spearhead the evolution of the platform from a system of record to one of intelligent action. The goal is to improve both customer experience and operational efficiency for accommodation providers, from independent hotels to large multi-property groups. This aligns with broader industry trends where travel technology vendors are increasingly embedding AI and automation into their core offerings.
“RMS has built an incredibly strong platform with a clear vision for the future of hospitality technology,” Steers said. “I’m excited to work with the team to shape the next generation of RMS products and deliver even greater value to our customers.”
CEO Adam Seskis welcomed Steers, highlighting his track record in delivering innovative technology and his customer-first mindset. “Rich’s experience in scaling platforms and driving product-led growth will be invaluable as we continue to invest in AI, automation, and connected hospitality solutions,” Seskis said.
Focus on AI, Automation, and Global Reach
RMS’s platform already supports property management, channel management, and revenue optimization for accommodation providers. Under Steers’ leadership, the company plans to deepen its use of artificial intelligence and automation to streamline operations and enhance guest experiences. This mirrors moves by other hospitality tech players such as Oracle Hospitality and Mews, which have also been investing heavily in AI-driven features.
The appointment comes as the hospitality industry increasingly looks to technology to manage rising labor costs and guest expectations. RMS’s focus on connecting disparate systems—from booking engines to housekeeping—positions it to compete with larger players like Amadeus and Sabre in the property management space.
Steers’ experience in fintech and payments also suggests RMS may expand its capabilities in integrated payments and financial management, a growing area of interest for hoteliers seeking to reduce transaction costs and improve cash flow.
With a presence in 70 countries, RMS is well placed to serve the global accommodation market, which includes everything from boutique hotels to large resort chains. The company’s investment in leadership and technology comes at a time when other hospitality groups are also strengthening their executive teams to navigate post-pandemic recovery and growth.
Steers’ appointment is effective immediately. He will be based at RMS’s headquarters and report directly to CEO Adam Seskis.
