Royal Caribbean International has announced a new charitable collaboration with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, timed to the European launch of its latest vessel, Legend of the Seas, in July 2026. The partnership will see the cruise line feature the Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory onboard, with guests encouraged to contribute through donations and awareness campaigns.

Supporting Specialist Pediatric Care

The initiative is designed to raise funds for Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses, who provide expert care to more than 50,000 seriously ill children across the United Kingdom. These nurses work within NHS Trusts, managing complex conditions and offering vital support to families. The partnership launches just ahead of National Children's Nurses Day on 30 June, underscoring the timing of the campaign.

Gerard Nolan, Vice President and Managing Director EMEA at Royal Caribbean, stated: "As a brand focused on creating memorable holidays for families, it's especially meaningful to partner with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity to support the families who need it most."

Louise Griew, Chief Executive of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, expressed delight at the partnership, noting its potential to raise vital funds and highlight the dedication of the nurses.

Preview Sailing and Inaugural Season

To mark the collaboration, Royal Caribbean will host Roald Dahl Nurses on a special four-night preview sailing of Legend of the Seas before its official debut on 4 July 2026. This event will allow the nurses to experience the ship's entertainment, dining, and relaxation offerings firsthand.

Following its European season, Legend of the Seas will reposition to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2026, offering Caribbean itineraries. The ship's deployment reflects Royal Caribbean's ongoing expansion in both European and North American markets.

This partnership builds on Royal Caribbean Group's broader community impact efforts. In 2025, the company reported $61 million in community contributions and launched a dedicated foundation, as covered in Royal Caribbean Group Reports $61M Community Impact in 2025, Launches Foundation.

For travel professionals, this collaboration offers a unique selling point for family-oriented cruises, combining entertainment with a charitable cause. Agents and tour operators can leverage the partnership to differentiate Legend of the Seas itineraries, particularly for clients seeking meaningful travel experiences.
