Saudia Group has once again secured the top spot in Cirium's global on-time performance rankings for June 2026, marking the second consecutive month the Saudi carrier has led the industry. The group, which includes full-service carrier Saudia and low-cost subsidiary flyadeal, reported a 92.38% on-time arrival rate and a 93.02% on-time departure rate across 13,350 flights during the month.
Hajj Season Puts Operations to the Test
The achievement is particularly significant given that June coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the busiest travel periods for the Kingdom. Saudia Group successfully managed the surge in passenger traffic from key source markets such as Malaysia and Indonesia, which together account for a substantial share of Hajj pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia each year. The carrier's operational reliability during this high-demand window underscores its ability to maintain service standards under pressure.
Flyadeal, the group's low-cost arm, also posted strong results, ranking first among airlines in the Middle East and Africa with a 95.42% on-time arrival rate and a 96.63% departure rate across 5,150 flights. This performance highlights the group's dual-brand strategy, with both full-service and low-cost operations achieving industry-leading punctuality.
Technology and Planning Drive Reliability
Saudia Group attributes its consistent on-time performance to an integrated aviation ecosystem that leverages AI-powered digital systems for planning, forecasting, and real-time decision-making. These tools allow the group to manage higher traffic volumes while maintaining operational reliability. The investment in advanced capabilities aligns with the Saudi Aviation Strategy, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading global aviation hub.
Director General of Saudia Group, Ibrahim Al-Omar, emphasized the role of workforce discipline in achieving these results. "Delivering this level of reliability during one of the busiest periods of the year reflects the dedication of our people and the discipline behind every stage of planning and execution," he said.
The group's focus on digital innovation is part of a broader strategic priority to enhance the travel experience. As the aviation industry increasingly turns to technology to improve efficiency, Saudia Group's use of AI and data analytics offers a model for other carriers seeking to boost on-time performance.
This news comes amid a dynamic period for Gulf aviation. In related developments, Gulf airlines have been adjusting route networks in response to geopolitical shifts, while the broader region continues to invest in infrastructure and technology to support growing demand.
For travel professionals, Saudia Group's performance offers a case study in operational excellence during peak seasons. The carrier's ability to maintain high on-time rates while handling the complexities of Hajj travel—including coordinating with ground handlers, immigration authorities, and airport operators—demonstrates the value of integrated planning and real-time data use.
As the global travel industry continues to recover and expand, reliability metrics like on-time performance remain critical for airlines competing for corporate contracts and premium passengers. Saudia Group's sustained leadership in this area positions it favorably in the competitive Middle Eastern aviation market, where carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad also vie for top rankings.
