Soro Hotel has officially opened its doors in Sorø, Denmark, marking a new addition to the Radisson Individuals portfolio. Located on Abildvej, just a short distance from the historic town centre, the 94-room property sits amid vineyards, forests, and lakes, offering a countryside retreat roughly an hour by train from Copenhagen.

The hotel targets both leisure and business travellers, combining Scandinavian aesthetics with flexible event spaces. Its position on the island of Zealand provides easy access to cultural landmarks and outdoor attractions, positioning it as a base for exploring the region. Joep Peeters, COO Franchise EMEA for Radisson Hotel Group, noted that the property responds to growing demand for nature-based short breaks and event-led hospitality in Denmark.

Design and Accommodation

Guest rooms range from Single Rooms to Standard Rooms and Suites with Garden Views, all designed in a clean Scandinavian style. The hotel’s restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients, with views over the surrounding landscape. Wellness facilities include a fitness centre, and guests can take advantage of walking trails, cycling routes, and lakeside swimming in the immediate area.

For meetings and events, Soro Hotel offers 13 flexible rooms plus a ballroom, making it one of Zealand’s larger conference venues. The property is also Green Key certified, reflecting its commitment to reducing resource use and food waste.

Matthias Tanski, CEO of CIC Hospitality, which manages the hotel, expressed enthusiasm about joining Radisson Individuals, citing the property’s unique character and scenic location. The opening aligns with broader trends in travel, as adventure and nature trips now top global travel preferences, a shift that hoteliers and destination marketers are increasingly factoring into their strategies.

Soro Hotel’s debut also underscores the continued expansion of soft-brand collections in Europe. Radisson Individuals, part of Radisson Hotel Group, allows independent hotels to retain their identity while benefiting from the group’s distribution and loyalty platform. This model has gained traction among owners seeking brand affiliation without full conversion.

The property’s location in Sorø, a town known for its historic monastery and lake, adds to its appeal for both domestic and international visitors. With Copenhagen’s airport about 90 minutes away by train, the hotel is accessible for short breaks and business trips alike.

As the hospitality sector increasingly focuses on sustainability and wellness, Soro Hotel’s nature-led positioning could serve as a template for other properties in the region. The hotel’s management has indicated plans to further develop outdoor programming and eco-friendly practices in the coming seasons.

For travel professionals, the opening represents another option for clients seeking a Scandinavian escape with meeting capabilities. The combination of nature, design, and function may appeal to corporate groups looking for a productive yet restorative environment.
