The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts is expanding its European footprint with the December opening of The First Cortina, a five-star property in the heart of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Located on Corso Italia, the hotel will offer 76 rooms and suites, each with a private balcony overlooking the UNESCO-protected Dolomites.

The property has undergone a comprehensive renovation led by Studio Marincola Architects, with a focus on conservation and wellbeing. The design integrates the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, creating a seamless connection between the alpine landscape and the interior spaces.

A new social hub for the Dolomites

The First Cortina is positioned as a new social hub in the Dolomites, catering to both winter sports enthusiasts and summer travellers. The hotel provides a dedicated Ski Room and access to ski and alpine guides, making it a convenient base for exploring the region's renowned slopes and trails.

Dining options at the property include Zuma, which brings contemporary Japanese cuisine to the mountains, and Velo, the hotel's signature Italian restaurant. The REVĪVŌ Spa, designed by Gherardi Architetti, offers a tranquil environment with a panoramic pool, treatment rooms, and a traditional hammam.

The hotel's location is strategically chosen, with ski lifts within easy reach and Venice Marco Polo and Treviso Canova airports providing convenient access for international guests. This opening aligns with The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts' Curated Journeys philosophy, which emphasizes personalised experiences and authentic local connections.

As the luxury hospitality sector continues to see growth in alpine destinations, The First Cortina adds a distinctive option for travellers seeking a blend of Italian design, destination dining, and modern wellbeing. The property is expected to attract a discerning clientele, including those who frequent other recent openings in the region.

For travel professionals, this development underscores the ongoing appeal of the Dolomites as a year-round destination. The combination of high-end amenities and prime location makes The First Cortina a noteworthy addition to the luxury hotel landscape in northeastern Italy.

With its focus on conservation and wellbeing, the hotel also reflects broader trends in the industry towards sustainable and health-oriented travel experiences. The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts' expansion into this market signals confidence in the region's long-term tourism potential.

As the opening approaches, the company is likely to announce further details about partnerships and special packages for the winter season. The First Cortina is set to become a key player in the Dolomites' luxury hospitality scene, offering a fresh take on alpine elegance.
