Travel + Leisure Co. has officially rebranded the former Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort Phuket as Club Wyndham Patong Hill Phuket, introducing the Club Wyndham name to Thailand for the first time. The move underscores the company’s strategy to expand its vacation ownership footprint across Asia Pacific, where it now operates more than 100 properties.

Property Details and Upgrades

The 242-key resort is positioned as a tranquil alternative to Phuket’s busier beachfront zones. Located on Patong Hill, the property offers guests a retreat from the Patong nightlife strip while remaining within easy reach of the area’s dining and entertainment options. Travel + Leisure Co. holds a direct equity stake in the resort through its vacation club entities, Club Wyndham South Pacific and Club Wyndham Asia.

Renovations are underway across the property’s eight swimming pools, the Carissa Day Spa, the Alfa Fire & Grill restaurant and bar, a pool bar, and a fitness centre. A central feature of the transformation is the creation of a village square precinct, an open-air hub designed to foster social interaction. The space integrates dining venues, landscaped gardens, and waterways stocked with koi fish, intended to encourage relaxation and connection among guests.

Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of International Operations at Travel + Leisure Co., commented: “Club Wyndham Patong Hill Phuket represents an exciting new chapter for this resort as it is reintroduced as a premium holiday experience in Phuket.”

Booking and Distribution Channels

The resort is available for booking by members of Club Wyndham South Pacific and Club Wyndham Asia, as well as through the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts portfolio. It is also accessible via Wyndham Rewards, the loyalty programme that counts over 124 million members globally. This distribution network gives the property exposure to a broad base of leisure travellers, particularly from key source markets in Australia, New Zealand, and across Asia.

The launch comes amid a wave of hospitality developments in Phuket. Earlier this year, Botanica Sky Valley introduced 18 ultra-luxury villas in Cherngtalay, while Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa launched an all-inclusive package with a cultural immersion focus. These additions reflect the island’s continued appeal to both developers and travellers seeking diversified accommodation options.

Strategic Implications for Travel Professionals

For travel agents and tour operators, the rebranding offers a new inventory option in Phuket’s mid-to-upper leisure segment. The resort’s integration with Wyndham Rewards and the Club Wyndham membership base provides a reliable booking channel, particularly for repeat vacation owners. Hoteliers and destination marketers may note the emphasis on creating communal spaces as a differentiator in a market saturated with pool-and-beach properties.

Travel + Leisure Co.’s expansion in Asia Pacific aligns with broader trends in the vacation ownership sector, where branded resorts are increasingly used to drive loyalty programme engagement and recurring revenue. The company’s direct ownership model at this property also signals confidence in Phuket’s long-term tourism recovery and growth trajectory.

Industry professionals should monitor how the village square concept performs in terms of guest satisfaction and repeat bookings, as similar placemaking strategies have gained traction in resort developments across Southeast Asia. The resort’s location on Patong Hill may appeal to travellers seeking proximity to Patong’s amenities without the noise, a positioning that could be replicated at other properties in the region.
