Vietnam's Sovico Group, the parent company of low-cost carrier Vietjet, has signed 23 memoranda of understanding and agreements with leading US and international corporations at the Hello America 2026 Investment Conference in New York. The event, held alongside General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to the US, underscores Vietnam's push to deepen economic and technological ties with global partners.
The agreements span aviation, banking, and digital services, with Vietjet, HDBank, and Vikki Bank each expanding cooperation with major names such as Pratt & Whitney, SKY Leasing, Citi, and Mastercard. The deals aim to connect Vietnam with global capital, technology, and expertise, supporting trade, investment, and job creation while reinforcing the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Aviation MRO and fleet growth
Vietjet and Pratt & Whitney are set to enhance their strategic relationship by developing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for next-generation engines in Vietnam. This initiative supports Vietjet's fleet expansion and is expected to serve other carriers across the Asia-Pacific region, positioning Vietnam as a regional MRO hub.
In parallel, Vietjet's collaboration with SKY Leasing and FTAI Aviation will expand fleet financing and asset management solutions, giving the airline more flexibility as it grows its fleet. The partnership with Mastercard will enhance digital payments and customer engagement in Vietnam's aviation sector, aligning with broader trends in travel technology.
These moves come as Vietnam leads Southeast Asia in travel search growth, according to recent Agoda data, highlighting the country's rising appeal as a destination and market.
Banking and digital transformation
HDBank and Vikki Bank are advancing digital transformation and financial expertise connections with global partners. HDBank's collaboration with Citi and Standard Chartered will focus on advisory services and international funding, while Vikki Bank's agreement with Mastercard will develop digital payment solutions tailored to Vietnamese consumers.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Sovico Group, emphasized the significance of these partnerships in connecting Vietnam's growth potential with global strengths in aviation, technology, and finance. "These agreements are not just about capital—they are about building long-term capabilities that will benefit Vietnam's economy and its people," she said.
The conference also highlighted Vietnam's broader economic ambitions, with delegates discussing opportunities in infrastructure, tourism, and digital services. The country's aviation sector, in particular, is poised for expansion, with Vietjet adding new routes and increasing frequencies across Asia.
For travel professionals, the deals signal growing confidence in Vietnam's aviation market and its potential as a regional hub for MRO and fleet financing. The partnerships also reflect a wider trend of travelers relying on AI for trip planning, which is reshaping how airlines and banks engage with customers.
As Vietnam strengthens its global ties, the ripple effects are likely to be felt across the travel industry, from airline operations to hotel bookings and destination marketing. The country's tourism sector has already shown resilience, with domestic travel shielding Asia-Pacific tourism boards from global shocks, and these new agreements could further boost international arrivals.
The Hello America 2026 conference marks a milestone in Vietnam's economic diplomacy, and the 23 agreements signed there are expected to yield tangible benefits in the coming years. For airlines, banks, and technology providers, the message is clear: Vietnam is open for business and ready to partner on a global scale.
