VisitBritain is intensifying its push into the Brazilian outbound market with the Brazil Mission 2026, a three-day trade event scheduled for 9–11 June at the Renaissance Hotel and the newly opened Cavern Club São Paulo. The initiative assembles 16 British tourism suppliers — including British Airways, Eurostar, Liverpool Football Club, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, and ABBA Voyage — to engage directly with Brazilian travel agents, tour operators, and corporate buyers.

Forecast Growth and Spending Targets

According to VisitBritain’s 2026 projections, the UK expects to welcome 316,000 Brazilian visitors, who are forecast to contribute £366 million in spending. That represents a 2% increase in arrivals and a 7% rise in expenditure compared to 2025. Brazilian travellers are among the longest-staying international visitors to the UK, averaging 11 nights per trip — a pattern that aligns with the country’s strategy to boost per-visitor yield.

Paul Gauger, VisitBritain’s Deputy Director for the Americas, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand, noted the strong cultural affinity between Brazilian tourists and British offerings. “Brazilian travellers have a deep appreciation for cultural experiences, music, and regional exploration,” Gauger said. “Our mission is to connect them with attractions and destinations that resonate with those interests.”

Regional Dispersion Beyond London

A key theme of Brazil Mission 2026 is encouraging visitors to explore regions outside the capital. In 2024, nearly 20% of Brazilian visitor nights were spent in the North of England, signalling growing appetite for destinations such as Manchester, Liverpool, and the Lake District. The event’s programming includes networking sessions and presentations designed to showcase these regional offerings to Brazilian trade partners.

The choice of venue — the Cavern Club São Paulo, a replica of the iconic Liverpool music venue — underscores the cultural bridge between the two markets. Music tourism, in particular, is a growing segment, with Brazilian fans of British bands increasingly seeking experiences tied to the UK’s musical heritage.

Airline and Industry Backing

British Airways is the headline sponsor of Brazil Mission 2026, reinforcing its commitment to the São Paulo–London route and broader connectivity between the two countries. The carrier operates daily flights from São Paulo Guarulhos to London Heathrow, with onward connections across the UK and Europe via its hub at Heathrow Terminal 5.

Other confirmed participants include Eurostar, which offers high-speed rail links from London to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, and Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, a major draw for Brazilian fans of the Harry Potter franchise. The mix of suppliers reflects a strategy to appeal to both leisure and experiential travellers.

Implications for Travel Trade

For Brazilian travel agents and tour operators, the mission provides direct access to UK product managers and the opportunity to negotiate exclusive packages. VisitBritain’s trade team will also offer training on selling regional UK itineraries, leveraging data on Brazilian booking patterns.

The event comes as the UK tourism sector continues to recover from pandemic-era disruptions, with inbound spending from long-haul markets like Brazil seen as critical to offsetting slower growth from European source markets. VisitBritain’s focus on high-spend, long-stay travellers mirrors broader industry trends, including the rise of near-airport luxury resorts that cater to time-sensitive premium guests.

Brazil Mission 2026 also aligns with the UK’s post-Brexit push to diversify its tourism base. By deepening ties with Brazil — a market with strong cultural ties and growing middle-class travel demand — VisitBritain aims to build a resilient pipeline of visitors who spend more per trip and explore beyond the traditional London-centric circuit.
