AirCairo has officially activated its services on the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) in India, effective immediately. The move enables all IATA-accredited travel agents across the country to issue AirCairo tickets through the BSP platform, simplifying booking, ticketing, reporting, and settlement processes.
This activation marks a key milestone in AirCairo's commercial growth strategy, significantly enhancing its distribution capabilities in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets. In addition to BSP, the airline is available through Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, and on GLID, the modern airline retailing platform developed by Aeroprime Group. These multiple channels provide travel partners with efficient booking options, further strengthening the carrier's presence in India.
Executive Perspectives on the Expansion
Hussein Sherif, Chairman and CEO of AirCairo, commented: "The activation of AirCairo on IATA BSP India represents a significant milestone in our commercial expansion strategy and reinforces our long-term commitment to the Indian market." He emphasized that this development enhances connectivity and simplifies the booking process for travel partners.
Abhishek Goyal, CEO and Executive Director of Aeroprime Group, added: "The activation of AirCairo on IATA BSP India represents a major step forward in enhancing the airline’s distribution landscape in the country."
With these enhanced distribution capabilities, AirCairo is well-positioned to support the increasing demand for travel between India and Egypt. The airline offers passengers convenient access to a broad network of destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia. This move also aligns with broader trends in the region, such as Royal Jordanian bolstering its Amman hub as a Middle East gateway for Indian travelers.
For travel agents and tour operators, the BSP activation means streamlined financial transactions and reduced administrative overhead. The integration with Amadeus and GLID ensures that agents can access AirCairo's inventory through familiar platforms, making it easier to book itineraries that include Cairo, Luxor, and other key destinations. This development is particularly timely as Indian outbound travel to Egypt continues to grow, driven by both leisure and business demand.
AirCairo's expansion in India also reflects the broader trend of Middle Eastern and African carriers investing in the Indian market. The airline's network, which includes routes to cities like Jeddah, Kuwait, and Istanbul, offers Indian travelers more options for connecting flights. This move is expected to benefit not only leisure travelers but also the MICE segment, as Egypt remains a popular destination for corporate events and incentives.
Industry analysts note that the activation of BSP in India is a strategic step for AirCairo to compete more effectively with other carriers serving the India-Middle East corridor. By simplifying the booking process, the airline aims to capture a larger share of the growing travel market between the two regions. This development also complements other recent initiatives in the Indian travel ecosystem, such as Indian firms forecasting a 74% surge in business travel.
Travel agents are encouraged to update their systems to take advantage of the new BSP integration. AirCairo's management has indicated that further enhancements to its distribution network are planned, including potential partnerships with additional GDS providers and travel technology platforms. The airline remains committed to providing seamless travel experiences for passengers and efficient tools for trade partners.
