AmaWaterways has officially revealed its latest vessel, AmaRudi, which will become Europe's largest river cruise ship upon its debut on the Danube River in spring 2027. Named after co-founder Rudi Schreiner, the ship marks the company's second double-width river cruiser, following the success of AmaMagna.
Designed to carry 196 guests across 98 staterooms and suites, AmaRudi promises a spacious and immersive river cruising experience. The vessel will feature multiple dining venues, including Journey's Restaurant, The Chef's Table, and Rudi's Wine Bar, alongside a Deck Club barbecue on the Sun Deck. Guests will enjoy complimentary beer, soft drinks, and a selection of over 30 wines during meals.
Wellness and Entertainment Innovations
Wellness and recreation are central to AmaRudi's offerings. The ship will include a state-of-the-art fitness centre, massage treatment rooms, and a full-sized pickleball court. A new entertainment concept introduces a cinema, karaoke, billiards, and a jukebox, all housed within a soundproofed social hub.
This focus on onboard amenities reflects broader trends in river cruising, where lines are increasingly competing on experiential offerings. For context, Scenic Group is also expanding into new markets with river cruises in India and Sri Lanka, highlighting the sector's global growth.
Sustainability and Environmental Commitment
Sustainability is a key focus for AmaRudi. The ship is equipped with advanced Stage V engines, solar panels, and lightweight materials to minimise environmental impact. These features align with the industry's push toward greener operations, as seen with Concordia Damen's delivery of the first hybrid river cruiser to Century Cruises for European service.
