Atlantis Dubai has strengthened its position as a benchmark for sustainable hospitality by earning three major industry certifications. The resort complex, which includes Atlantis, The Palm and Atlantis The Royal, along with Aquaventure World, has been recognised for its long-term commitment to environmental performance and responsible operations.

EarthCheck and Forbes Travel Guide accolades

Atlantis, The Palm and Aquaventure World have retained EarthCheck Gold Certification for the seventh consecutive year. Atlantis The Royal has maintained its EarthCheck Silver Certification for the third year running. In addition, both properties have been awarded the VERIFIED™ Responsible Hospitality designation by Forbes Travel Guide and the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Gold Stamp.

Kelly Timmins, Executive Director of Sustainability and Marine Animal Operations at Atlantis Dubai, said: “These accreditations reflect the way we approach hospitality every day, delivering exceptional guest experiences whilst ensuring sustainability is embedded across our operations.”

The certifications are based on independent assessments of environmental management, resource conservation and community engagement. Key achievements include a significant reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions across the resorts, as well as the installation of over 2,000 solar panels that generate approximately 1.8 million kWh of renewable electricity annually.

Atlantis Dubai’s ongoing initiatives also include advanced recycling programmes, smart technologies to reduce energy use, and marine conservation efforts through the Atlantis Atlas Project. Looking ahead, the resort plans to explore innovative food waste management technologies and advance climate transition frameworks in line with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision.

These certifications come as Dubai continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable tourism. The city’s broader efforts include soft mobility plans to boost last-mile connectivity, which complement the hospitality sector’s environmental goals.

For travel professionals, Atlantis Dubai’s achievements demonstrate how large-scale integrated resorts can embed sustainability into daily operations without compromising luxury or guest satisfaction. The property’s ability to retain EarthCheck Gold for seven years and add new certifications signals a mature, data-driven approach to environmental stewardship.

Industry observers note that such credentials are increasingly important for corporate travel buyers and MICE planners who prioritise sustainability in venue selection. The Forbes Travel Guide VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality mark, in particular, provides a trusted third-party validation that resonates with high-end leisure and business travellers alike.

Atlantis Dubai’s progress also aligns with the UAE’s broader Net Zero 2050 strategy, which aims to decarbonise the economy while maintaining growth in tourism and hospitality. The resort’s investment in solar energy and waste reduction technologies offers a replicable model for other large properties in the region.
