Capella Hotel Group has confirmed plans to open Capella Dubai in 2030, marking its second property in the United Arab Emirates. The hotel will be part of the Dubai Peninsula, a 210-acre waterfront development along Jumeirah's coastline, and will feature 115 keys, including suites with private pools.
The flagship Capella Suite, spanning 600 square metres, is designed as a residential-style retreat, catering to long-stay and high-net-worth travellers. The project is being developed by H&H, with architecture and interiors by Denniston, the firm led by Jean-Michel Gathy.
Positioning within Dubai Peninsula
Dubai Peninsula is a mixed-use destination that will include globally recognised hotel brands, private residences, dining and retail outlets, a superyacht marina, and extensive botanical gardens. Capella Dubai will occupy a prime position within this masterplan, offering an intimate alternative to larger resort properties in the emirate.
The hotel's guest experience will be anchored by Capella Culturists and the Capella Curates programme, which are designed to connect visitors with local heritage and contemporary culture. This aligns with a broader trend in luxury hospitality where Dubai hotels are expanding cultural and culinary offerings to differentiate themselves.
Facilities and wellness
Capella Dubai will house five dining venues, including a rooftop restaurant and bar with views over the Dubai skyline. A nearly 70-metre rooftop pool will provide a tranquil escape, while a family pool and children's club cater to younger guests.
The wellness offering will be comprehensive, featuring the Auriga Spa, a fitness centre, and outdoor fitness areas. This holistic approach to wellbeing is becoming a key differentiator in the luxury segment, as seen in other recent openings like Nepal's first luxury wellness retreat.
Meetings and events
For the MICE sector, Capella Dubai will include a ballroom, meeting rooms, and an outdoor event lawn, making it suitable for corporate retreats, product launches, and social celebrations. The combination of indoor and outdoor venues is expected to appeal to planners seeking flexible spaces in a resort setting.
Executive commentary
Roland Fasel, President of Capella Hotel Group, said: “With the opening of Capella Dubai in 2030, we will further establish our presence in one of the region’s most compelling cities, whilst remaining true to the hospitality that defines Capella.”
Shahab Lutfi, Chairman of H&H, added that Capella's personalised approach will add depth to Dubai's resort landscape. The development underscores the continued appetite for ultra-luxury hospitality in the emirate, even as the market becomes increasingly competitive.
Capella's expansion strategy has been selective, focusing on gateway cities and resort destinations. The Dubai property will join a portfolio that includes Capella Singapore, Capella Bangkok, and Capella Sydney. The group's emphasis on cultural immersion and residential comfort is expected to resonate with discerning travellers who prioritise authenticity and privacy.
With a 2030 opening timeline, Capella Dubai is a long-term bet on Dubai's tourism growth, which has been robust in recent years. The Dubai Peninsula project itself is part of a wave of new developments along Jumeirah's shoreline, promising to reshape the emirate's luxury landscape.
