Wyndham Rewards, the loyalty programme of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, has taken a significant step into the alternative accommodation space with the launch of Homes & Havens. The new platform, available immediately, gives the programme's 129 million members the ability to earn and redeem points across a curated selection of nearly 800 holiday homes, villas, and other unique stays worldwide.
The move responds to the sustained growth in demand for holiday rentals, particularly among families and groups celebrating milestones. By adding these properties, Wyndham Rewards aims to offer a more complete travel ecosystem, complementing its traditional hotel portfolio with options that cater to longer stays and larger gatherings.
Expanding the portfolio beyond hotels
Initially, Homes & Havens features properties in the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe. Wyndham has indicated that cabins, yurts, and tiny homes will be added in the coming months, broadening the appeal to travellers seeking distinctive experiences. The platform is powered by partnerships with independent property management and hospitality firms, including Brightwild and Simpson Travel, ensuring that all listings are professionally managed.
Members earn five points per US dollar spent on qualified bookings, with free night redemptions starting at 15,000 points per bedroom per night. This pricing structure is designed to be competitive within the loyalty landscape, offering flexibility for both short getaways and extended family vacations.
Michael Shiwdin, Global Vice President of Integrated Marketing, Loyalty, and Digital at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, commented: “Homes & Havens is one more step in creating a fully immersive travel rewards experience, one designed to meet members wherever their journey takes them.”
Bookings can be made directly through the platform, though some properties require a reservation request followed by contact from a specialist. This hybrid approach aims to balance the convenience of online booking with the personalised service that high-end villa rentals often demand.
The launch is part of a broader evolution of Wyndham Rewards, which has recently introduced enhancements such as Wyndham Rewards Insider and a refreshed credit card portfolio. These initiatives are intended to create a more connected travel rewards experience, allowing members to maximise value across multiple touchpoints.
For travel professionals, the move signals Wyndham's intent to compete more directly with other loyalty programmes that have already expanded into home rentals, such as Marriott Bonvoy's Homes & Villas. It also reflects a wider industry trend towards blending traditional hospitality with alternative accommodations, a segment that continues to grow in popularity among both leisure and business travellers.
As the platform evolves, Wyndham will likely look to expand its geographic footprint and property types, potentially including more urban apartments and resort-style villas. The company has not disclosed specific growth targets, but the initial rollout across key leisure markets suggests a strategic focus on high-demand destinations.
For agents and tour operators, Homes & Havens offers an additional inventory source for clients seeking unique stays, particularly for group travel and special occasions. The ability to earn and redeem points on these bookings could also influence consumer choice, making Wyndham Rewards a more compelling proposition in a competitive loyalty market.
Related developments in the travel industry include Aimbridge's new adults-only retreat in the Dominican Republic and Holland America Line's Alaska heritage tours, both reflecting the industry's push towards differentiated experiences. Wyndham's entry into the homes segment is another example of how major players are diversifying their offerings to meet evolving traveller expectations.
