Capital A Berhad has delivered its second consecutive profitable quarter, posting a 9% year-on-year revenue increase to RM809 million for Q2 2026. The results, announced today, underscore the group's successful pivot away from its airline roots toward aviation services and logistics.

The company's net operating profit reached RM38.5 million, while profit after tax came in at RM25 million, despite a RM5.6 million foreign exchange loss. For the first half of 2026, revenue climbed 4% to RM1.58 billion, with Teleport and Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) now contributing more than 70% of total group revenue.

ADE and Teleport lead the charge

ADE, Capital A's maintenance, repair, and overhaul subsidiary, posted a record quarterly performance with revenue up 29% year-on-year to RM284 million. The growth was driven by higher-value maintenance checks and increased workshop orders, reflecting strong demand across the Asia-Pacific MRO market.

Teleport, the group's logistics arm, also delivered robust results, with Q2 revenue rising 22% to RM311 million, supported by higher parcel and freight volumes. The unit's cross-border logistics expansion has been a key growth driver, particularly on routes linking Southeast Asia with China and India.

AirAsia MOVE, the travel platform, saw revenue grow 5% to RM96 million despite industry headwinds. AirAsia Next, the digital arm, reported an 8% revenue increase to RM78 million, while Santan, the inflight catering and retail business, maintained steady revenue despite lower passenger numbers.

CEO Tony Fernandes expressed satisfaction with the results, emphasizing the group's strategic focus on diversifying beyond its airline business. "We continue to trek in the right direction financially, with strong business momentum led by Teleport and ADE," he said in a statement.

The results come as Capital A continues to reshape its portfolio following the disposal of its aviation business. The company's non-airline units now form the core of its operations, with a clear emphasis on high-growth segments like MRO and logistics.

Looking ahead, management cautioned about challenging operating conditions in the second half of the year, citing global tensions and potential supply chain disruptions. However, Fernandes expressed confidence in the group's ability to deliver strong growth once these pressures ease.

Industry analysts note that Capital A's performance mirrors broader trends in the region. Asia Pacific carriers posted a collective $12.1 billion net profit in 2025, driven by strong demand and lower fuel costs, and the MRO and logistics sectors are benefiting from increased air travel volumes.

For travel professionals, Capital A's results highlight the growing importance of ancillary and services revenue streams. As airlines and groups diversify, the ability to generate stable income from maintenance, logistics, and digital platforms becomes a key competitive advantage.

The company's performance also offers a contrast to other regional players. Cathay Group's H1 2026 profit jumped 71% on strong passenger and cargo demand, while Vietjet's H1 2026 revenue surged 44% on international expansion. Capital A's focus on services rather than airline operations sets it apart in the region's evolving aviation landscape.

With ADE and Teleport now the primary revenue engines, Capital A is positioning itself as a diversified aviation services group. The company's ability to sustain profitability will depend on its execution in these high-growth segments, as well as its resilience to external shocks.
