LVMH-owned luxury maison Dior has inaugurated its first permanent spa in Sicily, located within the historic gardens of the Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond hotel, in Taormina. The property, which overlooks Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, has long been a fixture of Sicilian glamour and cinematic history.
Scheduled to open on 22 June 2026, the Dior Spa will operate daily and be accessible to both hotel guests and external visitors. The facility comprises four treatment rooms, including the exclusive Isola Bella Suite designed for couples, which features a beauty room and an infrared sauna.
Treatment Menu and Wellness Philosophy
The spa’s treatment menu is built around Dior’s Haute Wellness concept, blending high-tech equipment with high-touch manual techniques. A signature offering is the Talisman of Vitality, a treatment inspired by lithotherapy and Ayurveda that aims to revitalise and rebalance energy. The menu also includes Dior’s iconic face and body treatments developed with renowned facialist Hadda Akrim.
In addition to individual treatments, the Dior Wellness Villeggiatura programme takes a holistic approach. Co-created with global experts Byrony Deery and Rose Ferguson, the programme integrates anti-inflammatory movement and hormesis—a concept of controlled stress exposure—to promote overall vitality and balance.
The spa’s design harmonises with the hotel’s existing architecture and lush landscapes, reflecting the Sicilian art of living that Christian Dior himself admired. The Grand Hotel Timeo, part of Belmond’s portfolio, continues to position itself as a destination for luxury travellers seeking both heritage and modern wellness.
This opening follows a trend of luxury fashion houses expanding into hospitality and wellness. For context, other recent luxury property developments include Hilton’s 251-key beachfront resort on Langkawi’s Burau Bay and the upcoming Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch. Meanwhile, in the Maldives, Amilla Maldives has opened a dedicated pottery studio for guests, further diversifying experiential offerings.
For travel professionals, the Dior Spa at Grand Hotel Timeo represents a new partnership between a heritage hotel and a global luxury brand, potentially driving high-end leisure traffic to Sicily. The spa’s public access also opens opportunities for day-visit packages and local tourism tie-ins.
