Gother, a Thailand-based travel platform, has been named Initiative of the Year at the Travel Daily Media Travel Trade Excellence Awards 2026 – Thailand. The accolade recognises the company's Beyond OTA initiative, which expands the traditional role of an online travel agency by integrating personalised experiences, AI-driven operations, and a broad partner ecosystem.

Beyond OTA: A new model for travel platforms

Beyond OTA was developed on the premise that travel should extend beyond simple hotel bookings or flight reservations. The initiative connects travellers, hotels, suppliers, corporates, travel agents, content creators, and local businesses into a single ecosystem. By leveraging Gother KLUB, AI tools, and sports and entertainment offerings, the platform aims to make travel more relevant and personal for each user.

Gother KLUB is a central component, offering 52 experience categories that span sports, entertainment, wellness, family activities, local discovery, and special occasions. This transforms travel discovery into a broader lifestyle engagement, giving customers access to unique experiences tied to major global events such as football leagues, Formula 1, MotoGP, and international tennis.

Technology and AI at the core

Technology underpins the scalability and efficiency of Beyond OTA. Gother employs AI for onboarding, recommendations, customer matching, segmentation, and partner workflows. These tools not only deliver more relevant offers but also reduce manual work, enabling partners and agents to respond to customers more quickly and effectively.

For the trade, the initiative offers tangible benefits. Through Gother Partner, tourism suppliers can tap into wider digital demand, including via Google. The platform currently provides access to over 800,000 hotels globally, with more than 40,000 in Thailand. Gother expects to onboard 1,500 additional hotels in 2026, with a target of 3,000 by 2027.

Supporting the entire travel ecosystem

Beyond hotels, Gother Business assists 173 corporate clients in managing business travel with reduced paperwork, fewer advance payments, and simpler reimbursement processes. Travel agents can lower operational workloads and boost revenue opportunities, while Gother Affiliate enables creators and travellers to generate demand for tourism businesses.

The initiative has already delivered strong commercial results. In 2025, Beyond OTA generated THB810 million in Gross Booking Volume (GBV). The company projects year-on-year growth of approximately 60% in 2026, followed by a further 185% in 2027. Additionally, Gother expects its marketing-to-GBV ratio to improve from 11% in 2025 to 2.5% in 2027, reflecting a shift towards ecosystem-driven growth.

This recognition comes amid a broader industry push towards more integrated and experience-led travel solutions, as highlighted in TravelDaily 2026's new growth playbook. The Travel Daily Media Travel Trade Excellence Awards – Thailand honours outstanding achievements across hotels, airlines, airports, cruise lines, tour operators, booking platforms, and travel technology, spotlighting players that consistently redefine industry standards.

Gother's Beyond OTA initiative exemplifies how online travel platforms can evolve beyond transactional booking into a comprehensive travel ecosystem, benefiting both travellers and industry stakeholders. As Thailand's digital travel economy expands, initiatives like this are likely to shape the future of travel distribution in the region.
