Jobsdb by SEEK, Hong Kong's leading employment marketplace, used its third HR Conference to debut a suite of AI-driven recruitment features aimed at streamlining hiring for travel and other industries. Held on 7 August at the JW Marriott Hotel, the event attracted nearly 500 industry professionals under the theme "Empowering Talent and Technology Towards Tomorrow."
The conference zeroed in on how artificial intelligence is reshaping recruitment and talent matching, a topic of growing relevance for travel companies facing high competition and workforce mobility. Daryl Lau, Sales Director at Jobsdb by SEEK, highlighted the pace of change: "AI and innovative technologies are reshaping recruitment and talent management at an unprecedented pace."
New AI tools for smarter hiring
Jobsdb announced two key additions to its platform. The first, Personalised Targeting, uses AI to learn from an employer's unique hiring patterns and refine candidate recommendations accordingly. The second, Assist, functions as an AI-driven hiring partner that automates routine tasks such as prescreening and reference checks, freeing recruiters to focus on higher-value interactions.
These tools are designed to address a persistent pain point for employers: identifying suitable candidates in a tight labour market. For travel-sector HR teams, the ability to filter through high volumes of applicants quickly could prove especially valuable as the industry continues to rebuild its workforce post-pandemic.
The conference also featured panel discussions with industry leaders, including Edward Ng from Vita Green Group and Fanny Lau from New World Development. They discussed AI's potential to optimise HR workflows while stressing the importance of pairing technology with human soft skills like communication and collaboration. The consensus: AI should augment, not replace, the human touch in recruitment.
Jobsdb's push into AI aligns with the broader strategy of its parent company, SEEK, which has been investing heavily in technology across its Asian markets. The new features are expected to roll out to all Hong Kong employers in the coming months.
The event was supported by sponsors including AIA and KOS International, underscoring the growing interest in tech-enabled HR solutions across the region. For travel industry professionals, the development signals a wider trend of AI adoption in talent acquisition, a shift that could influence how hotels, airlines, and tour operators source and retain staff.
As travel companies increasingly compete for skilled workers, tools like those unveiled by Jobsdb may become essential. The ability to automate screening and improve candidate matching could give employers an edge in a sector where service quality hinges on people. For now, Jobsdb's latest offerings represent a practical step toward more efficient, data-driven recruitment.
