Radisson Blu has officially opened the Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Centre, Salzburg, positioning it as the largest conference hotel in the Austrian city. The property, which integrates into the Radisson Hotel Group portfolio, targets the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) segment with 1,785 square metres of dedicated event space.

Facilities and Location

The hotel features 262 rooms and suites, with the centrepiece being the Salzburg Hall, a 960-square-metre ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. The ballroom can be divided into two sections for smaller gatherings. In addition, the property offers 16 event spaces equipped with modern audiovisual technology and Wi-Fi, catering to a range of corporate and association events.

Strategically located just 300 metres from Salzburg's main railway station, the hotel provides convenient connections to Vienna, Munich, and Zurich. Salzburg Airport is five kilometres away, while the UNESCO-listed Old Town is a 20-minute walk along the Salzach river. The hotel also includes underground parking with 450 spaces and six electric vehicle charging stations, addressing the needs of delegates arriving by car.

Sustainability and Meeting Packages

Meeting packages at the property include carbon compensation at no extra cost, aligning with the hotel's three environmental certifications. This sustainability focus is increasingly important for corporate clients and event organisers seeking to reduce their carbon footprint. The hotel also offers a spa and wellness area, a fitness room, and multiple dining options to support extended stays.

Joep Peeters, Chief Operating Officer Franchise EMEA at Radisson Hotel Group, commented: "Bringing this hotel into the Radisson Blu network means connecting a proven, large-scale venue with international distribution and operational standards." The integration with the Radisson Meetings programme and global distribution systems such as Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport is expected to boost the hotel's visibility among travel agents and corporate travel buyers.

MICE Market Impact

Salzburg has been strengthening its position as a MICE destination, and this opening adds significant capacity. The property competes directly with other large conference venues in Austria, including those in Vienna and Innsbruck. For event planners, the hotel's proximity to transport links and the old town offers a blend of business and leisure appeal.

This development follows other recent MICE expansions in the region, such as the AYANA Bali opening a 1,850sqm pillarless grand ballroom and the NZICC preparing to host MEETINGS 2026. The Radisson Blu Salzburg is set to become a key player in Austria's conference landscape, leveraging the brand's international reach and operational expertise.
