Royal Caribbean International has confirmed an extension of Navigator of the Seas' deployment in Singapore through October 2027, a move that solidifies the city-state's position as a strategic cruise hub in Southeast Asia. Starting in October 2026, the ship will operate year-round itineraries of two to five nights, calling at destinations in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, alongside a 12-night repositioning voyage from Tokyo to Singapore.
The extended season reflects the cruise line's confidence in Singapore's infrastructure and demand, according to Ben Bouldin, President of Greater China and Managing Director Asia. "Travellers can now enjoy a full year of adventures from one of Asia's most ideal cruise gateways," Bouldin said in a statement.
Expanded itineraries and onboard experiences
Navigator of the Seas, a Voyager-class vessel, will offer a mix of short getaways and longer explorations, catering to both regional weekend cruisers and international fly-cruise guests. The ship's onboard amenities include the Splashaway Bay aquapark for younger travellers, The Blaster waterslide, and glow-in-the-dark laser tag, alongside a Caribbean-inspired pool deck and a range of dining venues.
The extension also aligns with Royal Caribbean's broader Asia-Pacific strategy. The company is increasing its regional footprint with three ships slated to sail from Australia, including the recently amplified Ovation of the Seas. Meanwhile, Voyager of the Seas will offer new itineraries from Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, timed to coincide with peak travel periods such as Chinese New Year and Japan's cherry blossom season. Bookings for these additional sailings open on 26 August.
Chitra Rajesh Kumar, Director of Cruise at the Singapore Tourism Board, welcomed the announcement, noting that the extension "is testament to Singapore's long-standing partnership with Royal Caribbean and offers visitors opportunities to discover Singapore's vibrant city experiences." The tourism board has been actively courting cruise lines, and this news follows other recent collaborations, such as the deepened tech-driven partnership with Agoda.
For travel agents and tour operators, the extended season provides a longer sales window for Southeast Asia cruise packages. The two-to-five-night format is particularly suited to first-time cruisers and those combining a cruise with a land stay in Singapore. The 12-night Tokyo-to-Singapore voyage also opens up new positioning opportunities for the autumn 2026 season.
Royal Caribbean's commitment to Singapore comes as the region's cruise industry continues to recover and expand. The line's decision to keep Navigator of the Seas in Asia rather than redeploying it elsewhere underscores the growing importance of the Southeast Asian market. With multiple ships operating in the region, the company is well positioned to capture demand from both local and international travellers.
Industry observers note that the extended season also supports Singapore's ambition to become a leading cruise hub in Asia, with the Marina Bay Cruise Centre and Singapore Cruise Centre both capable of handling large vessels. The move is expected to boost visitor arrivals and spending, benefiting hotels, attractions, and retail sectors.
Royal Caribbean's Asia-Pacific expansion is part of a wider trend among cruise lines to diversify homeports and itineraries. As competition intensifies, the ability to offer year-round departures from a single hub is a significant advantage. For agents, the extended season means more flexibility in crafting itineraries and a longer period to market cruises to clients.
Bookings for the Navigator of the Seas Singapore season open on 19 August, with the first sailings under the extended schedule departing in October 2026. The Tokyo-to-Singapore voyage is expected to be a highlight, offering a unique opportunity to combine two major Asian cities in a single cruise.
