Royal Jordanian Airlines has launched a wide-ranging branding campaign that places images of Jordan's national football team, Al Nashama, on several of its aircraft. The move, timed with the team's push toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is designed to amplify Jordanian achievements across international markets.
Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, described the initiative as a natural extension of the airline's role as a national carrier. “The aircraft featuring images of Al Nashama players will carry a message of pride from Jordan to the various destinations served by the airline around the world,” Majali said.
Beyond the Fuselage: A Unified Brand Experience
The campaign goes well beyond aircraft liveries. Royal Jordanian has applied a consistent visual identity to fan scarves, boarding passes, airport passenger shuttle buses, and travel amenity kits. This approach ensures that the team's brand is visible at every passenger touchpoint, from check-in to in-flight service.
The airline is leveraging its extensive route network to maximize exposure. Royal Jordanian serves five destinations in the United States, and the recently launched Amman–Dallas route—operating six weekly flights—will be a key channel for sharing Al Nashama's story with millions of travellers. The carrier also connects to major hubs in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, offering broad reach for the campaign.
This type of national-team branding is relatively rare among Middle Eastern carriers, though similar initiatives have been seen with other flag carriers in the region. The campaign aligns with a broader trend of airlines using aircraft as flying billboards for national pride, sports teams, or cultural events.
For travel professionals, the initiative underscores how airlines can deepen brand loyalty and differentiate themselves in competitive markets. Royal Jordanian's approach also highlights the value of integrating marketing across physical and digital channels—a lesson applicable to hotel groups, cruise lines, and destination marketing organizations.
Industry observers note that such campaigns can boost passenger affinity, particularly among diaspora communities and sports fans. The Al Nashama team has a passionate following in Jordan and among Jordanian expatriates worldwide, making the airline's network a natural vehicle for engagement.
Royal Jordanian's move comes as the carrier continues to expand its long-haul footprint. The Amman–Dallas route, launched in 2024, has strengthened connectivity between the Middle East and the southern United States, a market with growing demand for both business and leisure travel. The airline also operates to Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Washington, D.C., providing extensive coverage for the campaign.
While the financial details of the branding initiative were not disclosed, the campaign is expected to run through the World Cup qualifying period and beyond, depending on the team's performance. Royal Jordanian has not ruled out extending the livery to additional aircraft if the team qualifies for the tournament.
For travel agents and tour operators, the campaign offers a talking point when selling Royal Jordanian flights, particularly to sports-minded travellers or groups. The branded amenity kits and boarding passes also create a memorable experience that can drive repeat bookings.
As airlines increasingly seek to differentiate through storytelling and emotional connection, Royal Jordanian's Al Nashama campaign provides a case study in leveraging national pride to build brand equity. The initiative also reflects a broader industry trend of carriers using their assets—aircraft, lounges, and digital channels—to tell compelling stories that resonate with passengers.
