Royal Jordanian Airlines has selected Ramco Systems' next-generation aviation software to underpin its growth strategy, following a competitive evaluation of global MRO and airline technology platforms. The partnership will deliver a unified digital backbone for the Amman-based carrier, integrating engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and compliance functions into a single, paperless environment.

The deployment is designed to give Royal Jordanian real-time visibility across its technical operations, enabling faster decision-making and improved fleet reliability as it continues to modernise its aircraft and expand its route network. The airline currently serves more than 55 destinations worldwide and has been progressively upgrading its fleet with new-generation narrowbodies and widebodies.

Digital transformation at the core

Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines, framed the agreement as a strategic step in the carrier's broader digital agenda. “Our partnership with Ramco reflects our commitment to leveraging advanced technologies that enhance operational efficiency and uphold the highest safety standards,” Majali said. “This platform will help us streamline workflows and improve data accuracy across our engineering and supply chain teams.”

Sandesh Bilagi, CEO of Ramco Systems, said the selection underscores the vendor's deep understanding of aviation-specific requirements. “Being chosen by Royal Jordanian is a testament to Ramco's ability to deliver solutions that meet the complex needs of modern airlines,” Bilagi noted. “We are proud to support their journey with AI-driven automation and resilient cloud-based operations.”

Ramco's aviation suite is already trusted by more than 24,000 users globally, with deployments spanning airlines, MROs, and defence operators. The platform's modular architecture allows carriers to adopt functions incrementally, from inventory management to line and base maintenance, while maintaining a single source of truth.

For Royal Jordanian, the move aligns with industry-wide trends toward digital MRO and predictive maintenance. By automating workflows and eliminating paper-based records, the airline expects to reduce turnaround times and improve compliance tracking—critical factors as it expands its network and increases aircraft utilisation.

The carrier's growth plans have been bolstered by recent fleet additions, including Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A320neo family aircraft, which are deployed on routes across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America. The new software will support these operations by providing a scalable platform that can adapt to changing maintenance schedules and regulatory requirements.

Ramco's focus on AI and machine learning is particularly relevant for airlines seeking to move from reactive to predictive maintenance. The system can analyse historical data to forecast component failures, optimise spare parts inventory, and reduce costly ground time—a key driver for profitability in a competitive market.

Industry observers note that the partnership reflects a broader shift among Middle Eastern carriers to invest in digital infrastructure. Similar moves have been seen at other regional airlines, such as Turkish Airlines' network expansion and Air India's leadership changes, as carriers position themselves for post-pandemic growth.

Royal Jordanian, founded in 1963, is the national carrier of Jordan and a member of the oneworld alliance. Its hub at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman serves as a gateway between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The airline has been investing in customer experience and operational efficiency as part of a long-term turnaround plan.

Ramco Systems, headquartered in Chennai, India, has been expanding its aviation footprint across the Middle East and Africa. The company's cloud-based solutions are designed to support multi-operator environments, making them suitable for airlines with diverse fleet types and maintenance bases.

The implementation at Royal Jordanian is expected to be phased, with initial modules covering engineering and maintenance, followed by supply chain and compliance. The airline's technical teams will work closely with Ramco's specialists to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption to daily operations.

As the aviation industry continues to embrace digitalisation, partnerships like this one highlight the growing importance of technology vendors in enabling operational resilience. For Royal Jordanian, the move is a clear signal that it intends to compete not only on network and service but also on the efficiency of its technical backbone.
