Travel Daily Media (TDM) has named Siriporn Sachamuneewongse as its new Editor, a move that strengthens the publication's coverage of the Asia-Pacific travel market. Based in Bangkok, Sachamuneewongse brings nearly 20 years of experience in journalism, communications, and editorial roles, including a notable tenure with the Bangkok Post and work with international organizations.

In her new position, Sachamuneewongse will oversee breaking news, interviews, and features for TDM's global readership, with a particular focus on the people, places, and innovations reshaping the travel industry. Her appointment signals TDM's commitment to deepening its editorial presence in Southeast Asia, a region increasingly central to global tourism growth.

From Bangkok Post to global stage

Sachamuneewongse began her career in 2005, covering business, travel, tourism, and public-sector developments. Her reporting has spanned a wide range of topics, from airline route launches and hotel openings to destination marketing campaigns and travel technology trends. This breadth of experience gives her a nuanced understanding of the industry's interconnected sectors.

“Travel is one of the few industries where every story begins with a human being — someone going somewhere, discovering something, building something or simply looking at the world differently,” said Sachamuneewongse. “That is what makes travel journalism so exciting to me. Behind every destination, hotel, airline, trend or new development, there is a story worth telling.”

Her editorial vision aligns with TDM's mission to provide actionable intelligence for travel professionals. As the industry rebounds from the pandemic and adapts to new traveler expectations, Sachamuneewongse sees an opportunity for journalism to go beyond surface-level destination coverage.

“The most interesting travel stories today are not only about where we go, but why we go, how we travel and what travel means to the communities we visit,” she said. “There is so much happening across Asia and around the world, and I’m looking forward to bringing those perspectives to TDM — one conversation, one destination and one story at a time.”

Asia's growing influence in travel

Asia's travel market is expanding rapidly, driven by rising middle-class incomes, improved air connectivity, and a surge in intra-regional tourism. Airlines like Philippine Airlines are adding capacity on routes such as Manila–San Francisco, while new hotel openings, including the Langham Custom House Bangkok, underscore the region's appeal to luxury travelers. Sachamuneewongse's appointment positions TDM to capture these developments with local insight.

Her academic credentials include an MBA from the Sasin School of Management at Chulalongkorn University and a BBA in International Business from Mahidol University International College. She also attended the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2009, adding a strategic dimension to her editorial approach.

A Southeast Asian perspective

As a Thai national fluent in English and Thai, Sachamuneewongse brings a distinctly Southeast Asian viewpoint to the global travel conversation. This regional expertise is increasingly valuable as destinations across ASEAN compete for international visitors and investment. Her coverage will likely highlight emerging trends, such as the rise of K-pop-driven tourism in South Korea, a niche that platforms like NOL World are beginning to tap.

Travel professionals can expect Sachamuneewongse's reporting to focus on the business of travel — from airline fleet expansions and hotel group strategies to cruise line innovations and travel technology advancements. Her editorial leadership comes at a time when the industry is navigating challenges such as geopolitical tensions, sustainability pressures, and shifting consumer behaviors.

“I’m delighted to join Travel Daily Media and to have the opportunity to tell those stories for a global audience,” she added. “I want our coverage to be informed and insightful, stories that give readers a reason to pause, think, dream and perhaps book the next flight.”

Sachamuneewongse can be reached at [email protected] for story pitches, interview requests, or press releases. Her appointment is effective immediately.
