Tokyo Skytree Town, one of Japan's most visited landmarks, is strengthening its appeal to international travellers with new direct airport shuttle services and a significant upgrade to its dining and retail complex. The moves are designed to streamline access and enhance the visitor experience at the tower and its surrounding entertainment hub.

Direct airport connections

The newly introduced Skytree Shuttle® operates direct services from both Haneda and Narita airports to Tokyo Skytree Town, eliminating the need for transfers. The service runs in both directions, providing a convenient option for arriving and departing passengers. This development is particularly relevant for airlines and tour operators looking to offer seamless ground transport to one of Tokyo's most popular attractions.

For international visitors, the shuttle reduces travel friction, a key consideration for those arriving with luggage or unfamiliar with the city's rail network. The direct link from Haneda, which handles a growing share of international flights, is expected to be especially popular with business travellers and leisure tourists alike.

Food Marche renewal

At the base of the tower, Tokyo Solamachi is undergoing its first major renovation of the Food Marche since the complex opened in 2012. Under the theme “OUR MARCHE!”, the renewal aims to create a more inviting food market atmosphere, with a focus on local and international flavours.

The second phase of the renovation, set for this autumn, will introduce three new shops, including the first eastern Tokyo outlet of RANDY'S DONUTS and a new Gong cha café. The sweets area will also be enhanced, with pop-up spaces reopening on 1 October to showcase a rotating selection of brands and products.

The phased renewal will continue into fiscal year 2026 and beyond, with further improvements planned to enrich the visitor experience. For travel professionals, the upgraded Food Marche offers additional dining and retail options that can be incorporated into tour itineraries or recommended to clients seeking authentic Tokyo experiences.

Tokyo Skytree Town's efforts to improve accessibility and amenities align with broader trends in the travel industry, where seamless connectivity and experiential offerings are increasingly important. The new shuttle services and the Food Marche renewal are expected to boost the complex's appeal as a destination in its own right, complementing the tower's observation decks and other attractions.

As Tokyo continues to attract record numbers of international visitors, developments like these are crucial for maintaining the city's competitive edge in the global tourism market. The combination of improved transport links and enhanced food and retail options positions Tokyo Skytree Town as a convenient and compelling stop for both first-time and repeat visitors.
