Vietjet is broadening its international footprint with five new direct routes connecting Vietnam to the Philippines, Thailand, and Japan, alongside a resumption of domestic services from Da Lat. The expansion, announced this week, underscores the carrier's aggressive push into high-demand leisure and business corridors across Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
Philippines network grows with three new links
From 10 November 2026, Vietjet will operate three weekly round-trip flights on each of the following routes: Ho Chi Minh City–Cebu, Hanoi–Cebu, and Ho Chi Minh City–Clark. These services complement the existing Ho Chi Minh City–Manila route, giving the airline a four-point network in the Philippines. The move is aimed at strengthening tourism and trade flows between Vietnam and the Philippines, a market that has seen steady growth in recent years.
Clark, located north of Manila, serves as a key gateway for central Luzon and offers a less congested alternative to Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Cebu, the country's second-largest city, is a major hub for business process outsourcing and a springboard to popular beach destinations such as Boracay and Bohol.
Thailand and Japan services resume and expand
Vietjet will resume its Ho Chi Minh City–Chiang Mai route on 25 October 2026, with four weekly flights. Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of northern Thailand, attracts travellers seeking temple visits, mountain trekking, and the region's famed festivals. The resumption provides a direct link for Vietnamese tourists and connects with Thailand's growing inbound market.
On 20 December 2026, the airline will launch a new route between Da Nang and Osaka, also with four weekly flights. This service connects central Vietnam's heritage sites—including Hoi An and Hue—with Japan's Kansai region, a major source market for Vietnamese tourism. Osaka is also a key business hub, and the route is expected to cater to both leisure and corporate travellers.
Domestic resumption from Da Lat
Following the reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport on 19 August 2026, Vietjet will resume domestic services from Da Lat to several Vietnamese cities. The airport had been closed for upgrades, and its reopening is set to boost tourism to the Central Highlands, a region known for its cool climate, flower farms, and coffee plantations.
Promotional fares and booking window
To mark the expansion, Vietjet is offering promotional Eco fares from US$0 (excluding taxes and fees) on select international and domestic routes. Additionally, a 20% discount applies to SkyBoss and Deluxe fares. The promotion runs until 20 August 2026, with travel valid from 7 September 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Passengers can expect Vietjet's modern fleet and a selection of Vietnamese and international cuisine on board. The airline continues to position itself as a low-cost carrier with a growing network, and this latest expansion aligns with its strategy to capture more of the intra-Asia travel market.
The new routes also come at a time when the broader Asia-Pacific aviation market is rebounding. For context, Vietjet's H1 2026 results showed a 44% revenue surge, driven largely by international expansion. Meanwhile, Osaka hotel ADR has dropped 18.8% as Chinese arrivals slump, making the new Da Nang–Osaka route a timely addition for Japanese inbound travel.
Travel agents and tour operators can expect increased demand for packages combining Vietnam's central coast with Japan's Kansai region, as well as new options for multi-city itineraries in the Philippines. Vietjet's aggressive pricing and network growth are likely to put pressure on legacy carriers operating on similar routes.
The airline's expansion is part of a broader trend of Vietnamese carriers increasing their international reach. As the country's tourism industry continues to recover, Vietjet's new services are positioned to capture both outbound Vietnamese travellers and inbound visitors from key markets.
