Singapore-based multi-currency digital wallet YouTrip has unveiled Mega Travel Day, a recurring monthly promotion designed to drive travel bookings and reward users with cashback. Starting 1 October 2026, and on the first day of every month thereafter, users can earn up to 25% uncapped cashback on bookings made through major online travel agencies (OTAs) including Trip.com, Klook, Agoda, Booking.com, Traveloka, Expedia, and KKday.
The initiative borrows from the success of double-digit shopping festivals such as 9.9 and 11.11, which have become ingrained in Singaporean consumer behaviour. Kelvin Lam, Chief Operating Officer of YouTrip, said: “Double-digit sale days have changed the way Singaporeans shop, giving them a regular date to look out for the deals they want. We see the same opportunity in travel.”
How Mega Travel Day works
To access the deals, users must navigate to the ‘Perks’ tab in the YouTrip app on the first of each month and complete their bookings using the YouTrip card. The cashback is applied automatically, with no need for promo codes or pre-registration. The promotion covers a wide range of travel products, from hotel stays and car rentals to tours and experiences.
Participating platforms offer varying cashback rates. For instance, Trip.com provides 20% cashback on hotels and 15% on car rentals, while Klook offers 25% cashback on hotels and 15% on tours and experiences. Agoda, Booking.com, Traveloka, Expedia, and KKday each have their own unique discounts, giving users flexibility to choose the best deal for their itinerary.
YouTrip’s move comes as travel demand in Asia Pacific continues to recover, with Guangzhou Baiyun airport recently setting a six-year monthly passenger record, underscoring the region’s robust appetite for air travel. The monthly cadence of Mega Travel Day is expected to encourage more frequent trip planning, particularly among younger, digitally savvy travellers who are already accustomed to using fintech apps for payments.
The promotion also aligns with YouTrip’s broader strategy to expand its ecosystem beyond currency exchange. Earlier this year, the company launched a Split feature to ease group travel expense disputes, a move that resonated with its core demographic of millennial and Gen Z travellers. By adding a travel booking component, YouTrip is positioning itself as a one-stop financial and travel companion.
Industry observers note that the initiative could intensify competition among OTAs in Singapore, as they vie for wallet share through exclusive cashback partnerships. For travel agents and tour operators, the promotion may drive incremental bookings, particularly for short-haul getaways and weekend breaks, which are popular among Singaporean travellers.
YouTrip’s COO Lam emphasised the company’s ambition to make travel more accessible and rewarding. “We want to give our users a reason to look forward to the first of every month, whether they are planning a quick escape to Bangkok or a longer holiday to Europe,” he said. “Mega Travel Day is our way of adding value to their travel journey.”
The launch of Mega Travel Day is part of a broader trend of fintech companies entering the travel space, leveraging their user bases and payment infrastructure to offer integrated travel services. As the campaign unfolds, it is expected to boost travel bookings and further solidify YouTrip’s position as a leader in the digital financial services sector in the Asia Pacific.
For travel professionals, the promotion represents a new channel to reach cost-conscious consumers. OTAs and suppliers that partner with YouTrip could see increased visibility and conversion, especially among the app’s estimated one million users in Singapore. The monthly recurrence also provides a predictable marketing hook, similar to how airlines and hotels use flash sales to stimulate demand.
YouTrip’s Mega Travel Day is set to become a fixture in the Singapore travel calendar, and its success could inspire similar initiatives in other markets where the company operates, such as Malaysia and Thailand. With the backing of a strong fintech infrastructure and a growing user base, YouTrip is well-positioned to reshape how travellers book and pay for their trips.
