Adina Darling Harbour has reopened its doors after a comprehensive refurbishment, marking a significant milestone for the 114-room property. The renovation, led by architecture firm Bates Smart and designer Brenton Smith, reorients the hotel toward the water, creating a seamless flow from the pool area to the harbour's edge. This project comes 26 years after the hotel first opened ahead of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Situated between the Central Business District and King St Wharf, the hotel is well positioned for both corporate and leisure guests. The new design draws inspiration from the seafoam greens and blues of Sydney Harbour, with floor-to-ceiling windows and generous balconies that maximize natural light and sea breezes. Each room includes a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, offering a home-like environment for extended stays.
Upgraded facilities and new dining concept
TFE Hotels' CEO, Antony Ritch, highlighted the extensive upgrades across the property, including four flexible meeting rooms equipped with advanced audiovisual technology. The hotel also introduces Shoreline Kitchen, a new dining venue featuring a menu of locally sourced ingredients, including native bush flavours such as saltbush and pepperberry.
“This refurbishment is a key part of our strategy to evolve the Adina brand, focusing on design, comfort, and authentic Australian hospitality,” Ritch said. The renovation also reflects a commitment to sustainability, with pre-loved furniture donated to Sydney charity ReLove.
The hotel officially reopened on 3 August, with a grand launch planned for September. To celebrate, Adina Darling Harbour is offering a special housewarming package with discounted rates and complimentary amenities, available until 30 April 2027.
The reopening comes as Sydney continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for both business and leisure travel. The city's hospitality sector has seen a wave of investment, with properties like Adina Darling Harbour upgrading to meet evolving guest expectations. For travel professionals, this refurbishment underscores the importance of design-led renovations in attracting discerning travellers.
TFE Hotels, which operates the Adina brand across Australia and Europe, has been actively investing in its portfolio. The company's focus on design and local experiences aligns with broader industry trends, as seen in other markets such as Singapore's MICE incentives and Washington Dulles' major overhaul. These developments highlight the global push toward enhanced infrastructure and guest experiences.
For agents and tour operators, the refurbished Adina Darling Harbour offers a compelling option for clients seeking a central Sydney base with residential-style amenities. The hotel's proximity to the CBD and King St Wharf makes it convenient for both business meetings and leisure exploration. The new meeting rooms also position the property as a viable choice for small-scale corporate events and MICE gatherings.
As the travel industry continues to recover, investments like this one signal confidence in the long-term demand for quality accommodation in key gateway cities. Adina Darling Harbour's refurbishment not only enhances its competitive edge but also contributes to Sydney's appeal as a destination for international visitors.
