Atlas Ocean Voyages has unveiled its most extensive Europe season to date, with a 2028 collection spanning 37 Epicurean and Cultural Expeditions. The program, running from April through September, is designed to reach both iconic destinations and lesser-known coastal gems aboard the line's luxury expedition yachts.

The 2028 schedule marks a notable expansion in the Baltic region and brings back Egypt and Turkey, with a new embarkation point at Lavrion, Greece, offering convenient access to Athens. Twelve new ports of call join the lineup, including Beaulieu-sur-Mer in France, Poros in Greece, and Fjällbacka in Sweden.

Immersive itineraries and cultural depth

Atlas says the season is built around immersive experiences, with 26 overnight stays and visits to 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The itineraries are crafted to appeal to luxury travelers seeking deeper cultural connections and authentic local encounters, a segment that continues to drive demand in the expedition cruise market.

James Rodriguez, President and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages, said: "Our Europe 2028 collection reflects exactly what today's luxury traveller is seeking—deeper cultural connections, authentic local experiences, and access to remarkable destinations that larger ships simply cannot reach."

Among the signature voyages is the World Traveller's 7-night sailing timed to coincide with the Historic Monaco Grand Prix, offering a front-row seat to the glamour of the Côte d'Azur. The World Voyager will operate a 12-night D-Day Anniversary voyage, commemorating the 84th anniversary of the Normandy landings with calls at historic French ports.

Guests will also navigate some of Europe's most spectacular waterways, including the Venetian Lagoon and Norway's Trollfjord, where steep cliffs and wildlife create a dramatic backdrop.

Expansion in the Baltic and beyond

The Baltic expansion is a key element of the 2028 program, with more sailings in the region than ever before. New ports such as Fjällbacka, a picturesque Swedish fishing village, and the addition of multiple overnight calls in cities like Stockholm and St. Petersburg (subject to itinerary) are designed to give guests more time to explore.

The return to Egypt and Turkey reflects growing demand for eastern Mediterranean itineraries. Ports in these countries will be paired with Greek islands and the Turkish coast, offering a blend of ancient history and modern luxury.

The collection also includes a focus on regional cuisine, with Epicurean Expeditions highlighting local food and wine. Cultural Expeditions, meanwhile, emphasize history, art, and architecture, with expert-led shore excursions.

Bookings for the Europe 2028 collection are now open, with early-booking incentives including bonus savings and complimentary amenities. The line is also promoting the season as an opportunity for travel advisors to offer clients something beyond the standard Mediterranean cruise.

Atlas Ocean Voyages operates a fleet of small expedition yachts, with capacities typically under 200 guests, allowing access to ports and waterways that larger ships cannot reach. This positioning is increasingly relevant as the cruise industry sees a surge in expedition and luxury bookings.

The announcement comes as other lines also expand their European offerings. Holland America Line recently set a record European season for 2028 with the return of the Nieuw Amsterdam, and the region continues to attract investment from both established players and newcomers. For travel advisors, the growing array of options means more choice for clients, but also a need to differentiate between expedition and traditional cruise experiences.

Atlas's 2028 Europe collection is a clear signal that the line is betting on the region's enduring appeal, even as competition intensifies. With its focus on smaller ships, cultural immersion, and unique itineraries, the company is carving out a niche that appeals to a specific segment of luxury travelers.
