Asset World Corp (AWC) and Meliá Hotels International have broadened their strategic alliance in Thailand, setting a target of more than 3,000 hotel keys across the kingdom by 2036. The expanded agreement will introduce several of Meliá's luxury and lifestyle brands—including Meliá Hotels & Resorts, ME by Meliá, and Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts—to key Thai destinations, reinforcing the country's bid to become a leading sustainable tourism hub.
Paradisus debuts in Asia with Jomtien beachfront resort
The partnership marks the first entry of the Paradisus by Meliá brand into Asia. The Paradisus Jomtien Resort, slated to open in 2031 on Pattaya's Jomtien beachfront, is designed to redefine the all-inclusive luxury experience for the region's upscale travellers. The property will target both leisure and MICE segments, offering extensive meeting facilities and premium amenities.
In addition, two new hotels will open in Bangkok's Sukhumvit district by the fourth quarter of 2026. An ME by Meliá property will bring a lifestyle-oriented, design-led experience, while a Meliá Hotels & Resorts property will cater to business and leisure guests seeking a more classic luxury stay. These openings will strengthen Meliá's presence in the Thai capital, complementing its existing resorts in Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.
Existing portfolio and accolades
AWC, the largest owner of Meliá properties in Thailand, currently operates Meliá Chiang Mai and Meliá Koh Samui. Both hotels have earned industry recognition, including the Thailand Tourism Excellence Award and mentions in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards. The new developments will build on this track record, with AWC leveraging its local expertise and Meliá's global distribution network.
Sustainability remains a core pillar of the collaboration. Initiatives such as The Gallery connect guests with products from Thai communities, embedding local economic benefits into the guest journey. Wallapa Traisorat, CEO of AWC, emphasized the shared commitment: “Together, we are embedding sustainability into every part of the guest journey.”
Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, CEO of Meliá Hotels International, highlighted Thailand's strategic importance in the group's Asian growth plans. “This agreement creates exciting opportunities to introduce distinctive luxury and lifestyle brands to some of Thailand’s most iconic destinations,” he said.
The expansion comes as Thailand continues to shift its tourism metrics from arrivals to visitor value, a trend that aligns with the premium positioning of these new properties. The move also reflects a broader pattern of luxury brands turning Asia's gateways into flagship lifestyle destinations.
With the pipeline extending to 2036, AWC and Meliá are positioning for long-term growth in Thailand's hospitality sector, catering to both international and domestic travellers seeking high-end experiences. The partnership underscores the confidence of global hotel groups in the Thai market's recovery and its potential for sustainable, quality-driven tourism development.
