Czechia is intensifying its efforts to attract travelers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region this summer, leveraging a combination of cooler temperatures, cultural festivals, and enhanced air connectivity. The Czech Tourism Authority, CzechTourism, is rolling out a targeted campaign that showcases the country's diverse offerings beyond Prague, including UNESCO-listed sites, spa towns, and a packed calendar of events from July to August.
Festival and Cultural Highlights
From July through August, Czechia hosts a range of festivals designed to appeal to GCC visitors. The Bohemia Jazz Fest and the Summer Shakespeare Festival are key draws, alongside Prague Folklore Days. A standout event is the annual Castle–Château Night in August, where historic properties transform into cultural venues. The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, held in early July, adds a cinematic dimension to the spa town's appeal.
Western Bohemia's spa and wellness sector is a major focus, with Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně offering thermal treatments and luxury stays. Nature enthusiasts can explore hiking and cycling trails, river cruises, and regional festivals such as the Telč Holidays Festival. Culinary events like the Blueberry Festival in July and the Cucumber Festival in August provide gastronomic draws.
Air Connectivity and Market Access
Direct flights from the UAE, operated by carriers such as Emirates and Etihad Airways, provide seamless access to Prague. Etihad Airways has recently boosted summer capacity with new routes to Kraków and Zanzibar, though Prague remains a key destination. Qatar Airways' extensive summer 2026 network, covering 160 destinations, also offers convenient connections from Doha. These links are critical for GCC travelers seeking a cooler alternative to the region's summer heat.
Barbara Andelová, International Marketing Manager for CzechTourism, stated: “Czechia continues to resonate strongly with GCC travellers seeking authentic, enriching, and climate-friendly summer experiences.” The campaign targets families, couples, and luxury travelers, with tailored packages that combine cultural immersion with wellness.
Industry Implications
For travel agents and tour operators, Czechia's summer push presents opportunities to package festival tickets, spa treatments, and accommodation. The country's 1,200 castles and châteaux offer unique venue options for MICE groups and luxury travelers. Hoteliers in Prague, Brno, and Karlovy Vary can expect increased demand from GCC visitors, particularly for properties with halal dining and family-friendly amenities.
As Southern Europe and North America lead summer travel demand, Czechia's cooler climate and cultural depth position it as a niche but growing option for GCC outbound travel. The campaign aligns with broader trends of travelers seeking authentic, less crowded destinations.
