Grab For Business has announced a strategic integration with SAP Concur's expense management platform, Concur Expense, to streamline corporate travel and expense processes across Southeast Asia. The collaboration allows eligible transactions—including ride-hailing, food delivery, and courier services—to be automatically captured in Concur Expense, eliminating the need for manual expense report creation.

The integration is now available in the SAP Concur App Centre for all Grab For Business customers in the region. This move is part of a broader trend where travel and expense management systems are becoming more interconnected, as seen in other recent developments like APAC business travelers routinely bypassing expense policies.

Addressing a critical gap in corporate travel management

According to the Global Business Travel Association, business travel spending in Asia Pacific is projected to reach $700.9 billion by 2026. Despite this growth, a significant gap remains: while 95% of business travelers rely on ride-hailing services, only 58% of companies have formal mechanisms to manage these expenses within their travel programs. This integration directly addresses that gap by providing a seamless, automated connection between Grab's mobility services and Concur's expense management.

Valerie Khoo, Regional Head of Grab For Business, emphasized the significance of the partnership: "Together with SAP Concur, we're connecting business mobility with expense management in one seamless experience, helping organisations automate expense reporting whilst gaining greater visibility and control over business travel spending."

The integration is expected to significantly reduce the administrative burden on employees and finance teams. By automatically syncing transaction data, companies can ensure accurate, policy-compliant expense reporting without manual data entry. This not only saves time but also improves data accuracy and compliance.

For travel managers and CFOs, the integration offers enhanced visibility into ground transportation and meal expenses, which are often the most fragmented and difficult to track. With real-time data flowing into Concur Expense, organizations can better monitor spending patterns and enforce travel policies.

This development aligns with a broader industry shift toward integrated travel and expense solutions. Similar integrations, such as Emerging Travel Group's integration of Rippla's influencer network, highlight the growing importance of seamless technology ecosystems in the travel sector.

For travel management companies and corporate travel agencies, this integration underscores the need to offer clients tools that simplify expense management. As more businesses adopt ride-hailing and delivery services for official travel, having automated expense capture becomes a competitive advantage.

The partnership also reflects a broader trend in the region, where mobile-first solutions are gaining traction. With Southeast Asia's high smartphone penetration and the popularity of super-apps like Grab, integrating travel and expense management into a single platform is a natural evolution.

Grab For Business customers can now enable the integration directly from the SAP Concur App Centre. The setup is straightforward, allowing finance teams to quickly connect their Grab accounts and start benefiting from automated expense reporting.

As the business travel landscape continues to evolve, particularly with the rise of blended travel and the increasing use of gig-economy services, such integrations will become essential. Companies that leverage these tools will not only improve operational efficiency but also gain a strategic edge in managing travel costs.

This announcement follows other recent travel-tech integrations, such as Emirates integrating Cryptocom Pay for UAE flight bookings and Riskline integrating travel safety data into Tripadvisor, illustrating the rapid pace of digital transformation in the travel industry.
