Grupo Posadas, one of Mexico's largest hotel operators, has unveiled a comprehensive programme of cultural and culinary events for the holiday season, spanning Día de Muertos, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. The initiative aims to position its portfolio as a destination for travellers seeking immersive Mexican traditions alongside premium hospitality.

Día de Muertos experiences

At Live Aqua San Miguel de Allende, the hotel will stage a Journey to Mictlán event on 1 November, featuring traditional dance, live classical music, and a candle-lighting ritual. The evening concludes with a four-course dinner designed to reflect the region's culinary heritage. Meanwhile, Devossion by Live Aqua Playa del Carmen will host its own Día de Muertos celebration on 2 November, offering guests a contemporary take on the holiday.

Christmas and New Year festivities

In Cancún and Acapulco, Fiesta Americana Cancún Villas and Fiesta Americana Acapulco Villas will organise Christmas tree lightings, holiday dinners, and Three Kings Day celebrations. These events are tailored for families and other guests looking to enjoy the festive season in a beach setting. The group will also offer Thanksgiving buffets and special dinners on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at select properties.

Additional holiday programming will take place at Fiesta Americana Mérida and Fiesta Americana Hacienda San Antonio El Puente Resort & Spa, both of which will feature a range of dining experiences. The latter, a restored colonial hacienda, provides a backdrop that blends history with modern luxury.

Portfolio enhancements

Beyond seasonal events, Grupo Posadas is refreshing accommodations and expanding wellness offerings across its portfolio. This includes upgrades to guest rooms and the introduction of new spa and fitness programmes, reflecting a broader industry trend toward experience-led travel. As noted in recent Agoda data, festive travel is increasingly driven by unique experiences rather than simple getaways.

Enrique Calderón, Chief Operating Officer of Grupo Posadas, said the company continues to develop its properties and create meaningful experiences for families, couples, groups, and travellers seeking distinctive getaways. "We are committed to showcasing Mexico's rich cultural heritage while delivering the highest standards of service," he added.

The move aligns with broader efforts across the hospitality sector to capitalise on the holiday season. For instance, Ritz-Carlton Bali has detailed its own festive programme, and Holland America Line has outlined holiday cruises with similar perks. Grupo Posadas' strategy, however, focuses on local traditions, which could appeal to both domestic and international travellers seeking authentic Mexican experiences.

With these seasonal events and enhancements, Grupo Posadas aims to attract travellers looking for relaxation and cultural immersion during the holidays. The group's diverse portfolio, ranging from urban properties to beachfront resorts, allows it to cater to a wide range of preferences, from family vacations to romantic escapes.
