Amrit Bhawan, a restored heritage riverside retreat in Haridwar, has announced a seven-day wellness programme titled “A Week of Wellness by the Ganga,” running from 25 July to 1 August 2026. The initiative targets the growing demand for immersive wellness travel in India, particularly among international and domestic travellers seeking restorative experiences along the Ganges.

Programme details and wellness offerings

The programme includes daily yoga sessions, personalised nutrition consultations with wellness expert Srishti Chatlani, and meals designed around wellness principles. Guests can also attend intimate knowledge sessions covering Ayurveda, fermentation, gut health, and herbal infusions. Evening activities feature Ganga Aarti at the property’s private ghat, heritage walks, documentary screenings, sound healing, meditation, and Yoga Nidra.

Varun Bajaj, Founder & Managing Partner of Ekat Travel & Lodging, which operates Amrit Bhawan, said: “Wellness isn’t something we wanted to package as a retreat or an escape. It already exists in the rhythm of this house, in the river, the slower pace of the day, shared meals and quiet moments by the Ganga. This programme simply creates more opportunities for guests to experience that rhythm with intention.”

Pricing and positioning

Packages start at $174 (₹14,440) plus GST per night for up to two adults, with curated wellness benefits varying by length of stay. The property, an eight-room restored heritage home, offers a residential-style hospitality experience that encourages guests to reconnect with the landscape and themselves at an unhurried pace.

This launch aligns with broader trends in the wellness tourism sector, which has seen significant growth globally. For context, the Wellness Tourism Association recently unveiled its first global standards for retreats, underscoring the industry’s push for consistency and quality. Similarly, properties like Garrya Mù Cang Chải in Vietnam launched an all-wellness inclusive package, reflecting a shift toward holistic, all-encompassing wellness offerings.

Industry implications

For travel professionals—particularly tour operators, luxury travel advisors, and destination management companies—Amrit Bhawan’s programme represents a niche product that combines heritage accommodation with structured wellness activities. The property’s location in Haridwar, a key pilgrimage and wellness hub, adds cultural and spiritual depth that can appeal to clients seeking authentic, transformative travel experiences.

The programme’s pricing, at roughly $174 per night, positions it competitively against other wellness retreats in India and Southeast Asia. With the global wellness tourism market projected to continue its upward trajectory, properties like Amrit Bhawan are well placed to capture demand from travellers prioritising health and mindfulness.

Travel agents and advisors may consider bundling this programme with other regional experiences, such as visits to Rishikesh or the Jim Corbett National Park, to create extended itineraries. The programme’s emphasis on Ayurveda and local rituals also offers a point of differentiation from more generic wellness offerings.
