Hilton has signed management agreements for three new lifestyle hotels in Thailand and the Maldives, marking a notable push for its Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton brands in Southeast Asia. The additions include the Andamanda Voyage in Phuket, a Tapestry Collection property in Chiang Mai, and the Coco de Mer Maldives resort, scheduled to debut in June 2027.
Strategic growth in experience-driven travel
The signings align with Hilton's broader strategy to surpass 250 luxury and lifestyle properties across Asia Pacific, responding to rising demand for stays that emphasize local culture and unique experiences. Alexandra Murray, vice president and regional head of Southeast Asia, said: “These signings provide new opportunities to showcase our independent-spirited brands.”
The Andamanda Voyage, a Curio Collection property, is set to open by the end of 2026 within the Andamanda Waterpark complex in Phuket. It will offer 246 rooms with direct access to the waterpark and nearby attractions, positioning it as a draw for both leisure and family travelers. In Chiang Mai, the city's first Tapestry Collection hotel will be located in the historic Old Town, featuring 65 rooms in a heritage building that reflects Northern Thai architecture. The property targets cultural tourists seeking an authentic base in the region.
In the Maldives, the Coco de Mer resort will offer 75 rooms and is reachable via a 25-minute speedboat ride from Malé. Maria Ariizumi, vice president of development for Southeast Asia, noted strong owner interest in the region, highlighting potential for growth in both resort and cultural destinations. The resort is expected to cater to luxury travelers looking for secluded, culturally immersive experiences.
These developments come as Hilton continues to deepen its footprint in high-demand leisure markets. The company's lifestyle portfolio now spans multiple brands, including Curio Collection and Tapestry Collection, which are designed to offer guests stays that are “deeply rooted in the local culture and environment,” according to the company.
For travel professionals, the expansion signals increased inventory in two of Asia's most sought-after destinations. Agents and tour operators can expect new options for clients seeking boutique-style accommodations with the backing of Hilton's global distribution and loyalty network. The properties are also likely to appeal to MICE planners looking for distinctive venues, particularly the Phuket property with its waterpark adjacency.
Hilton's move also reflects broader industry trends toward lifestyle and independent-spirited hotels, which have gained traction among travelers seeking authenticity. The company's focus on Southeast Asia aligns with rising tourism numbers in Thailand and the Maldives, both of which have seen strong recovery post-pandemic.
