Meriwether Companies has wrapped up a $50 million transformation of La Valle Coastal Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California, repositioning the 225-acre property as a modern private club that blends recreation, wellness, and hospitality. Formerly known as Morgan Run, the club now targets a demographic that values casual luxury over traditional formality.

Dave Likins, a partner at Meriwether, said the redesign was driven by a desire to create a space where members and guests can stay active and socialize without the stuffiness of conventional country clubs. "La Valle is built around staying active, enjoying time outdoors, and coming together," he noted.

Hospitality and golf upgrades

The centerpiece is the Guesthouse Hotel, a 77-room boutique property that lets overnight visitors access all club amenities. The golf offering has been significantly enhanced, with 27 holes spread across three courses—Olivos, Cedros, and Palmas—designed to be scenic and walkable. Improvements include new greens, fairways, and expanded practice areas.

The Verde Wellness Centre introduces a range of fitness and recovery options, from yoga and Pilates to advanced therapies like Lumati Red Light treatments. For racquet sports, the club now operates eight tennis courts, 12 pickleball courts, and two Padel courts.

Dining and social spaces

Dining options include Gather California Kitchen, which serves a menu with coastal influences, and the Oasis Café for casual poolside bites. The Swing Suite offers a speakeasy-style lounge equipped with a multisport simulator, adding an entertainment layer to the club's social scene.

The transformation reflects a broader industry trend toward more relaxed, social club experiences, with art and design inspired by Southern California. For travel professionals, the project underscores how private clubs are evolving to attract younger members and guests seeking experiential amenities.

Meriwether's investment in La Valle aligns with similar moves in the luxury hospitality sector, such as Conrad Maldives' upcoming chef series and Four Seasons Mumbai's new pasta menu, both of which emphasize curated experiences. The club's focus on wellness and casual dining also mirrors trends seen in JW Marriott Phu Quoc's culinary festival and Lotte Hotels' transit-card pass for inbound visitors.

With its blend of golf, wellness, and hospitality, La Valle Coastal Club is positioned to compete in the high-end private club market, offering a blueprint for other operators looking to modernize their properties.
