Royal Caribbean International has brought the Voyager-class vessel Navigator of the Seas to Singapore, marking its first deployment in Asia and the start of a multi-year season from the city-state. The ship will operate a series of cruises from Singapore through October 2027, with itineraries spanning Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
The deployment is part of Royal Caribbean's broader 2027-28 Asia-Pacific lineup, which also includes sailings from Hong Kong, Tokyo, Brisbane, and Sydney. The Singapore-based season is designed to give travelers a convenient homeport for exploring Southeast Asia and beyond, with options ranging from short weekend escapes to extended voyages.
Ship features and onboard experience
Navigator of the Seas, which underwent a major refurbishment in 2019, brings a suite of attractions tailored to families and adventure seekers. Highlights include the The Blaster and Riptide waterslides, the Battle for Planet Z laser tag arena, and the Splashaway Bay aquapark for younger cruisers. The ship also offers a range of dining venues, from Japanese-inspired dishes at Izumi to Italian classics at Jamie's Italian and fresh seafood at Hooked.
Entertainment options include live performances at the Royal Theatre, as well as themed bars like The Bamboo Room and The Lime and Coconut, which offer a mix of tropical cocktails and live music.
Itineraries and deployment
From Singapore, passengers can choose from 2- to 5-night getaways to destinations such as Penang, Malaysia, and Phuket, Thailand. For those seeking longer voyages, the ship offers a 10-night itinerary to Thailand and Vietnam, and a 12-night sailing between Singapore and Tokyo that calls at ports in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
This Singapore season is a key component of Royal Caribbean's strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has been increasing capacity in the region, and the Navigator's deployment is expected to boost cruise tourism in Southeast Asia, a market that has been growing steadily.
"Navigator of the Seas' arrival in Singapore marks a game-changing moment for Royal Caribbean, making it easier for holidaymakers to discover more of Asia from one convenient homeport," said Ben Bouldin, President of Greater China and Managing Director Asia for Royal Caribbean.
The move also aligns with broader industry trends, as cruise lines increasingly position ships in Asia to capture demand from both regional and international travelers. Royal Caribbean's recent financial performance has been strong, and the company is investing in new deployments to sustain growth.
For travel agents and tour operators, the new Singapore season offers a fresh product to sell, with a mix of short and long itineraries that appeal to different traveler segments. The ship's family-friendly amenities and diverse dining options are likely to attract both first-time cruisers and repeat guests.
Royal Caribbean's Asia-Pacific lineup for 2027-28 also includes sailings from other key hubs, providing agents with more flexibility in crafting multi-destination packages. The company's commitment to the region is evident in its investment in ships like Navigator, which is now positioned to serve the growing demand for cruise vacations in Asia.
As the cruise industry continues to recover and expand, the Navigator's Singapore season is a notable development for the region's tourism sector. With its mix of short getaways and longer voyages, the ship is set to become a popular choice for travelers looking to explore Southeast Asia and beyond.
