Ontario International Airport (ONT) is reporting a sharp rise in TSA PreCheck adoption, with enrollment now covering 26% of departing passengers—up from 13% two years ago. The growth follows the airport's introduction of onsite Trusted Traveller Programme kiosks, which have made it easier for travelers to sign up for the expedited screening service.
During peak periods in Terminal 4, up to half of all passengers are using TSA PreCheck lanes, according to airport officials. To accommodate demand, ONT has expanded its Terminal 2 checkpoint to six lanes, including one dedicated primarily to PreCheck users. A similar lane is slated to open in Terminal 4, reflecting the airport's commitment to reducing wait times and improving the passenger experience.
Partnership with CLEAR boosts enrollment
Since 2024, ONT has partnered with CLEAR to offer expedited enrollment and renewal services, allowing travelers to complete the process in minutes without an appointment. This collaboration has been a key driver of the surge in PreCheck membership, making it more convenient for frequent flyers and occasional passengers alike.
TSA PreCheck members enjoy expedited screening, with 99% waiting less than 10 minutes at security checkpoints. The airport also operates a Global Entry Enrollment Center for those seeking expedited processing upon return from international travel.

The rise in PreCheck usage comes as ONT continues to see strong passenger growth. Earlier this year, the airport reported a record first half for 2026, with passenger numbers and cargo volumes both surging. That momentum has prompted ongoing investment in infrastructure and technology to handle increasing traffic while maintaining security standards.
ONT's focus on expedited screening aligns with broader industry trends, as airports worldwide seek to reduce congestion and improve the traveler journey. The airport's approach—combining TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, and CLEAR enrollment—offers a model for other mid-sized hubs looking to enhance efficiency without compromising safety.
